Creation of Biocidal Coatings using the Stabilization of Silver Nanoparticles in Aqueous Acrylic Dispersions

open access: yesInternational Journal of Technology, 2020
This article proposes a method for silver nanoparticle (AgNP) stabilization in polymer coatings obtained from aqueous acrylic dispersions. The main objective of the study was to improve the biocidal properties of coatings using AgNPs due to the ...

Photostability of Lycopene Dispersed in an Aqueous Solution [PDF]

open access: yesBioscience, Biotechnology, and Biochemistry, 2011
Lycopene dispersed in aqueous solutions with different dissolved oxygen contents was photo-irradiated by using a xenon weather meter, and the contents of lycopene and dissolved oxygen were measured. Both the degradation of lycopene and the consumption of dissolved oxygen followed a first-order kinetics model.

Surfactant-aided exfoliation of molydenum disulphide for ultrafast pulse generation through edge-state saturable absorption

open access: yes, 2015
We use liquid phase exfoliation to produce dispersions of molybdenum disulphide (MoS2) nanoflakes in aqueous surfactant solutions. The chemical structures of the bile salt surfactants play a crucial role in the exfoliation and stabilization of MoS2.

Síntese e caracterização de dispersões aquosas de poliuretanos à base de copolímeros em bloco de poli(glicol etilênico) e poli(glicol propilênico) Synthesis and characterization of polyurethane aquous dispersions based on poly(ethylene glycol) and poly(propylene glycol) block copolymers

open access: yesQuímica Nova, 2008
Non-polluting polyurethane aqueous dispersions, with 40% of solids content, were synthesized based on block copolymers of poly(ethylene glycol) and poly(propylene glycol) (PEG-b-PPG), with PEG hydrophilic segments content of 7 and 25%, poly(propylene ...

Investigating the Effectiveness of Reactive Dispersants in Non‐Aqueous Dispersion Polymerization [PDF]

open access: yesMacromolecular Reaction Engineering, 2015
Non‐aqueous dispersion (NAD) radical polymerization is used to produce poly(acrylic) nanoparticles (<200 nm) at 60 wt% solids content by a starved‐feed semibatch process, with steric stabilization provided by a low molecular weight vinyl‐functionalized polymeric dispersant.

Morphologies and Structure of Brain Lipid Membrane Dispersions

open access: yesFrontiers in Cell and Developmental Biology, 2021
This study aims to explore the variety of previously unknown morphologies that brain lipids form in aqueous solutions. We study how these structures are dependent on cholesterol content, salt solution composition, and temperature.

Insoluble soybean polysaccharides: Obtaining and evaluation of their O/W emulsifying properties [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The aims of this work were to obtain different samples of insoluble soybean polysaccharides (ISPS) from defatted soy flour and to study their potential application as O/W emulsifier. In this regard, the insoluble residue (okara) resulting from an aqueous

Thermal Stability of Dispersions of Amino-Functionalized Silica in Glycol and in 50–50 Aqueous Glycol

open access: yesMolecules
Dispersions of amino-functionalized silica in ethylene glycol (EG) and in aqueous glycol show excellent stability at room temperature. Stability at elevated temperatures would be much desired with respect to their potential application as heat-transfer ...
