Leverage Points for Meaningful Participation: A 5‐Point Framework From a Rural South African Landscape

open access: yesSystems Research and Behavioral Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Alternative forms of natural resource management are required. Participation of local actors is necessary but not sufficient, for moving away from the conventional top‐down approaches. This paper develops a 5‐point framework for enabling meaningful participation in rural landscape governance.

Looking into aqueous humor through metabolomics spectacles - exploring its metabolic characteristics in relation to myopia.

open access: yesJournal of Pharmaceutical and Biomedical Analysis, 2016
Aqueous humor is the transparent fluid found in the anterior chamber of the eye that provides the metabolic requirements to the avascular tissues surrounding it.

Concentrations of matrix metalloproteinase-2 and interleukin-1 β in the aqueous humor of dogs with normal and cataractous eyes

open access: yesPesquisa Veterinária Brasileira
: We aimed to determine the concentration of MMP-2 and IL-1β in the aqueous humor of dogs with healthy eyes (n=8) and in those with mature (n=8) and hyper mature cataracts (n=8).

Peptide‐directed nanovehicles enabling tumor‐selective ROS amplification and antitumor immunity

open access: yesVIEW, EarlyView.
Cancer cells are vulnerable to oxidative stress, yet exploit immune tolerance to escape destruction. In contrast, their metabolic profile is markedly altered to support rapid proliferation, accompanied by elevated production of reactive oxygen species (ROS).

Nonthermal plasma approaches for combating implant‐associated infections: A compendious review

open access: yesVIEW, EarlyView.
Implant‐associated infections pose serious clinical challenges. Non‐thermal plasma (NTP) modifications overcome this bottleneck in distinct ways relative to traditional sterilization methods. Gas‐phase plasmas generate highly energetic species, UV radiation and reactive oxygen/nitrogen species (RONS), which alter the implant surface properties.
