Immunoregulation by Aqueous Humor

Cornea, 2000
The eye is a classic example of an immune-privileged site. To investigate the local defense system of the eye, the immunosuppressive effects of the aqueous humor on cytokine production was examined.Using T cell clones (TCCs) established from infiltrating cells in the aqueous humor of patients with human T lymphotropic virus type 1 (HTLV-1) uveitis as ...

Aqueous humor formation

Experimental Eye Research, 1973
Abstract The various processes and forces underlying aqueous humor formation have been examined both theoretically, as a problem in terms of membrane behavior, and experimentally, using in vitro and in vivo techniques. Mathematical relationships have been developed for the interrelationship of facility, pseudofacility, capillary pressure, active ...

Formation Of The Aqueous Humor

Clinical and Experimental Pharmacology and Physiology, 2000
SUMMARY1. Glaucoma is a worldwide disease affecting approximately 1–2% of the population aged over 35 years in industrial countries and is a major cause of blindness.2. Glaucoma is usually associated with an increased intra‐ocular pressure reflecting an imbalance between the rate of production of fluid (the aqueous humor) by the ciliary epithelial ...

Metabolomic Profiling of Aqueous Humor in Glaucoma Points to Taurine and Spermine Deficiency: Findings from the Eye-D Study.

Journal of Proteome Research, 2019
We compared the metabolomic profile of aqueous humor from patients with primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG; n = 26) with that of a group of age- and sex-matched non-POAG controls (n = 26), all participants undergoing cataract surgery.

Metabolic characterization of diabetic retinopathy: An 1H-NMR-based metabolomic approach using human aqueous humor.

Journal of Pharmaceutical and Biomedical Analysis, 2019
Patients with a long duration of diabetes mellitus (DM) usually have accompanied complications such as diabetic retinopathy (DR), which is a leading cause of blindness and visual impairment among working-age persons in developed countries; nevertheless ...

Aqueous humor catecholamines

Current Eye Research, 1984
The catecholamines norepinephrine, (NE) epinephrine (E) and dopamine (DA) were detected for the first time in the aqueous humor of humans under general anesthesia and monkeys under ketamine. The catecholamine levels in aqueous humor of 9 humans were assayed. NE was 0.796 +/- 0.457 ng./ml., E ranged between 0 and 0.132 ng./ml.

MYD88 L265P MUTATION DETECTION IN THE AQUEOUS HUMOR OF PATIENTS WITH VITREORETINAL LYMPHOMA

Retina, 2019
Purpose: To detect the presence of MYD88 L265P mutation in the aqueous humor of patients with cytologically proven vitreoretinal lymphoma. Methods: Eight consecutive patients with bilateral vitreoretinal lymphoma (16 eyes) were prospectively evaluated ...

Aqueous Humor: Physiology of the Aqueous Humor

2013
Water represents 70 % of an individual’s body weight and is divided in two compartments, separated by the cell membrane. Inside the cell membrane is the intracellular fluid, corresponding to 50 % of the body weight, and outside it the extracellular fluid, corresponding to the remaining 20 % (in the adult).

Multiple cytokine analyses of aqueous humor from the patients with retinitis pigmentosa.

Cytokine, 2019
PURPOSE Cataracts are the most common eye complications of retinitis pigmentosa (RP). This study aimed to investigate the cytokine profiles of the aqueous humor of RP with cataracts.

NATURE OF THE AQUEOUS HUMOR

Journal of the American Medical Association, 1948
To be standing here today is one of the big events of my life. It is indeed curious how many of the happiest experiences I have had have occurred in this country or have been associated with Americans in many parts of the world. But to be here as your foreign guest of honor—if, indeed, "foreign' is the correct word—is without doubt the highlight of ...
