First insight into Araucaria araucana (Molina) K. Koch under its southernmost European growing condition: a proposed descriptor list for morphological characterization

open access: yesAdvances in Horticultural Science, 2019
Araucaria araucana is a south American endemic Conifer of conservation concern. After its introduction to Europe, this species has been often planted for ornamental purposes in parks and gardens, where its unusual appearance was admired.

Bromination of eudesmin isolated from araucaria araucana induces epimerization and give bromine derivatives with loss of anti-Candida activity

open access: yesNatural Product Research, 2022
Furofuran lignanes show important biological activities for the treatment of infectious diseases, inflammatory and metabolic pathologies. They have been isolated from leaves and barks of many plants.

Incidence of controlled water restriction on density and chemical profiles in tree rings of Araucaria araucana seedlings

open access: yesEcological Processes
Background Dehydration of plant tissues caused by water stress affects the dynamics of the lateral cambium, the rate of cell division and differentiation in cell lumen size, wall thickness and wall chemical properties.

Peroxidases in the cell walls of seeds and seedlings of Araucaria araucana

open access: yesPhytochemistry, 1992
Abstract Two major proteins present in the cell walls of the embryo and megagametophyte tissues of Araucaria araucana seeds were partially purified, characterized and identified as peroxidases. These two proteins have M r s of 83 and 145 × 10 3 , a pI of 10.5, an optimal pH of 5.0 and a buoyant density of 1.333 g ml −1 .

From traditional practice to unsustainable exploitation: Fruit overharvesting on the endangered relict palm Jubaea chilensis

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, EarlyView.
Overharvesting of wild edible plants poses a growing threat to plant populations worldwide, particularly for slow‐growing species with limited regeneration. We quantified fruit extraction from the third‐largest known population of Jubaea chilensis—an endangered palm endemic to Chile—modeled the critical harvest threshold, and assessed consumer ...

Induction of Somatic Embryogenesis in Araucaria araucana (Molina) K. Koch: Considerations for Ex Situ Conservation of Ancient Tree in Chile

open access: yesForests
Araucaria araucana is an emblematic native conifer from Chile and Argentina that has been classified as threatened due to anthropogenic activities. Somatic embryogenesis (SE) is a biotechnological tool used for both the preservation of genetic material ...

Genomic forecasting for climate‐resilient fruit trees

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 251, Issue 4, Page 1640-1653, August 2026.
Genomic offset and required evolutionary changes under climatic shifts. Summary Fruit trees – long‐lived perennial crops cultivated for their edible fruits or nuts and frequently propagated clonally – are increasingly exposed to climate extremes that threaten their productivity and survival.
