An Arbitrary Precision Scaling and Squaring Algorithm for the Matrix Exponential [PDF]
Summary: The most popular algorithms for computing the matrix exponential are those based on the scaling and squaring technique. For optimal efficiency, these are usually tuned to a particular precision of floating-point arithmetic. We design a new scaling and squaring algorithm that takes the unit roundoff of the arithmetic as input and chooses the ...

Phase‐field simulations coupled with dislocation‐density‐based crystal plasticity modeling reproduce γ′ rafting behavior in single‐crystal Ni‐based superalloys under varied loading conditions. The model captures both macroscopic creep and microscopic morphology evolution, with results matching high‐temperature creep experiments.

Efficient computation of stochastic cell-size transient dynamics
Background How small, fast-growing bacteria ensure tight cell-size distributions remains elusive. High-throughput measurement techniques have propelled efforts to build modeling tools that help to shed light on the relationships between cell size, growth

This study presents novel anti‐counterfeiting tags with multilevel security features that utilize additional disguise features. They combine luminescent nanosized Ln‐MOFs with conductive polymers to multifunctional mixed‐matrix membranes and powder composites. The materials exhibit visible/NIR emission and matrix‐based conductivity even as black bodies.

Decisions made by researchers while analyzing data (e.g., how to measure variables, how to handle outliers) are sometimes arbitrary, without an objective justification for choosing one alternative over another.

Simulation of indivisible qubit channels in collision models
A sequence of controlled collisions between a quantum system and its environment (composed of a set of quantum objects) naturally simulates (with arbitrary precision) any Markovian quantum dynamics of the system under consideration.

Edible electronics needs integrated logic circuits for computation and control. This work presents a potentially edible printed chitosan‐gated transistor with a design optimized for integration in circuits. Its implementation in integrated logic gates and circuits operating at low voltage (0.7 V) is demonstrated, as well as the compatibility with an ...
