A post-structural analysis of the architectural education - technology relationship [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
This dissertation investigates how technology and architectural education relate to each other, in the broadest possible sense. What are the internal and external factors affecting our understanding and use of technology in architectural education?

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Residual tail twisting in ascidian larvae is stabilized by asymmetric myofibrils that resist bilateral symmetry restoration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ascidian Ciona larvae initially show strong clockwise tail twisting, which is largely corrected during development. However, a small residual twist remains. This study shows that organized helical myofibrils in tail muscles mechanically stabilize this residual asymmetry, preventing complete restoration of bilateral symmetry and revealing how embryos ...

Kritisk empiri. Ett historiografiskt perspektiv

open access: yesNordlit: Tidsskrift i litteratur og kultur, 2015
The article discusses the possible value of a ”critical empiricism” as the forgotten ”other” of the well-established critical theory. Following Swedish sociologist Johan Asplund, critical empiricism is described as ”seeing what others have not seen”. The

Septin 9 PB domains coordinate centrosome positioning and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Septin 9 polybasic domains couple phosphoinositide‐rich membrane binding to centrosome positioning, Golgi organization, and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity. Their loss disrupts this axis, causing centrosome mispositioning, Golgi fragmentation, reduced microtubule acetylation, and polarity inversion via upregulation of the ...

Agrarian voids as dynamic spaces in the contemporary city. The historic orchards of Nerja, Malaga

open access: yesRi-vista: Ricerche per la Progettazione del Paesaggio
Agriculture and architecture are realities in continuous dialogue in many territories where the productive landscape is an inherent part of the built environment, especially those on a smaller scale with an immediate presence in the city, such as the ...

Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...

Ivan Karlov’s “Tsaritsyn Anabasis

open access: yesВестник Волгоградского государственного университета. Серия 4. История, регионоведение, международные отношения, 2017
This paper acquaints the historians with a curious incident that took place in Suzdal in 1674. The present case surprisingly resembles a well-known plot twist of Jaroslav Hašek’s novel The Fateful Adventures of the Good Soldier Švejk During the World War

The hedonistic sustainability concept in the works of Bjarke Ingels

open access: yesARTEKS : Jurnal Teknik Arsitektur, 2020
Contemporary architects highlight past ideas and present new manifestos often perceived as utopian. Bjarke Ingels introduced hedonistic sustainability in response to the demand for environmentally friendly and sustainable living through different ...
