Checkpoint blockade and the stem‐like T cell trade‐off

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Stem‐like T cells are key to the success of programmed cell death protein 1 (PD1) blockade, as they sustain long‐term anti‐tumor response by continuously generating effector CD8+ T cells. However, how these cells are maintained in cancer is not fully understood. Hor et al.

Metastasis on pause: How dormant tumor cells stay hidden within the tumor microenvironment and evade immune surveillance

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dormant cancer cells can hide in distant organs for years, evading treatment and the immune system. This review highlights how signals from the surrounding tissue and immune environment keep these cells inactive or trigger their reawakening. Understanding these mechanisms may help develop therapies to eliminate or control dormant cells and prevent ...

BIOMIMICRY ARCHITECTURE, FROM THE INSPIRATION BY NATURE TO THE INNOVATION OF THE SAHARAN ARCHITECTURE

open access: yesArchitecture and Engineering, 2018
Biomimicry is an old approach, but in the scientific conceptualization is new, as an approach of innovation based on the emulation of Nature, in recent years, this approach brings many potential theories and innovations in the architecture field. Indeed,

Bajo el signo de la esvástica. La Exposición de Arquitectura Moderna alemana en España (1942)

open access: yesDiacronie. Studi di Storia Contemporanea, 2014
In autumn of 1942, Barcelona received the Exhibition of Modern German Architecture, directed by Albert Speer. The objective of this exhibition was to show to European allies the pharaonic projects of Germany, the Europa’s future new capital, the new ...

The problems of high-rise construction in St. Petersburg

open access: yesJournal of Architecture and Urbanism, 2016
St. Petersburg’s strict limit on building height existed until the 1960s. A small loosening of restrictions occurred only at the end of the 19th century, which formed the “horizontal” silhouette of the city with a few spire accents, domes and factory ...

Multi‐omics and low‐input proteomics profiling reveals dynamic regulation driving pluripotency initiation in early mouse embryos

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Mouse pre‐implantation development involves a transition from totipotency to pluripotency. Integrating transcriptomics, epigenetic profiling, low‐input proteomics and functional assays, we show that eight‐cell embryos retain residual totipotency features, whereas cytoskeletal remodeling regulated by the ubiquitin‐proteasome system drives progression ...

Nuclear pore links Fob1‐dependent rDNA damage relocation to lifespan control

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Damaged rDNA accumulates at a specific perinuclear interface that couples nucleolar escape with nuclear envelope association. Nuclear pores at this site help inhibit Fob1‐induced rDNA instability. This spatial organization of damage handling supports a functional link between nuclear architecture, rDNA stability, and replicative lifespan in yeast.

Pet Architecture

open access: yes, 2013
Characters like Animal from the Muppet show (a creation by Jim Hen-son) are often illustrations through which we can talk about the quali-ties of the wild, the feral and the natural, in contrast to that which is artificial or built, the man-made. This article, however, would like to focus on the chain.‘Animal,’ the character, offers the
