Influence of sea surface temperature in the tropics on the Antarctic sea ice under global warming
Sea ice fields in the Antarctic, in contrast to the Arctic ones, did not show a reduction in observed global warming, whereas the global climate models indicate its certain decrease.

The concept of an ‘Arctic Pedagogy’ is enticing. Arctic branding sells: for example, UiT is not just the ‘University of Tromsø’ but also the ‘The Arctic University of Norway’. Moreover, research in Scotland as part of the ‘New Northern Pedagogies Project’ is now investigating “how the principles of Arctic Pedagogy can support teacher education ...

Density of hydrobiont populations in the coastal zone of the Barents Sea and in aquaculture [PDF]
Objects for obtaining additional food sources and maintaining the quality of the environment in multicultural farms of the northern seas can be kelp (Laminaria saccharina), sea urchin (Strongylocentrotus droebachiensis), mussel (Mytilus edulis), which do

Arctic amplification is caused by sea-ice loss under increasing CO2
Warming in the Arctic has been much faster than the rest of the world in both observations and model simulations, a phenomenon known as the Arctic amplification (AA) whose cause is still under debate. By analyzing data and model simulations, here we show

Arctic sea ice is an important temporal sink and means of transport for microplastic
Microplastics (MP) are recognized as a growing environmental hazard and have been identified as far as the remote Polar Regions, with particularly high concentrations of microplastics in sea ice. Little is known regarding the horizontal variability of MP

AbstractResearch campaigns over the last decade have yielded a growing stream of data that highlight the dynamic nature of Arctic cryosphere and climate change over a range of time scales. As a consequence, rather than seeing the Arctic as a near static environment in which large scale changes occur slowly, we now view the Arctic as a system that is ...

TRAF2 binds to TIFA via a novel motif and contributes to its autophagic degradation
TRAF family members couple receptor signalling complexes to downstream outputs, but how they interact with these complexes is not always clear. Here, we show that during ADP‐heptose signalling, TRAF2 binding to TIFA requires two short sequence motifs in the C‐terminal tail of TIFA, which are distinct from the TRAF6 binding motif.

Production and use of mussel shell protein in dry fish sauce
The objective of the study was to obtain protein ingredients from mussel shell valves and to examine their potential application in the production of dry sauce with regard to the impact on organoleptic and physicochemical parameters, and rheological ...
