Physical activity and blood gene expression profiles: the Norwegian Women and Cancer (NOWAC) Post-genome cohort

open access: yesBMC Research Notes, 2020
Objectives The influence of physical activity (PA) on the immune system has emerged as a new field of research. Regular PA may promote an anti-inflammatory state in the body, thus contributing to the down-regulation of pro-inflammatory processes related ...

A gall mite,Aceria rhodiolae(Acari: Eriophyidae), altering the phytochemistry of a medicinal plant,Rhodiola rosea(Crassulaceae), in the Canadian Arctic [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Natural History, 2015
ABSTRACTThe eriophyid mite Aceria rhodiolae (G. Canestrini) is known to induce galls on the flowers and leaves of roseroot, Rhodiola rosea L., in subarctic and alpine regions of Europe. After discovering galls on the inflorescences of roseroot in Nunavik (Quebec), northeastern Canada, we examined the mites extracted from the galls and compared them ...

Challenges of measuring body temperatures of free-ranging birds and mammals [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The thermal physiology of most birds and mammals is characterised by considerable spatial and temporal variation in body temperature. Body temperature is, therefore, a key parameter in physiological, behavioural and ecological research.

TRAF2 binds to TIFA via a novel motif and contributes to its autophagic degradation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
TRAF family members couple receptor signalling complexes to downstream outputs, but how they interact with these complexes is not always clear. Here, we show that during ADP‐heptose signalling, TRAF2 binding to TIFA requires two short sequence motifs in the C‐terminal tail of TIFA, which are distinct from the TRAF6 binding motif.
