Liver-specific knockout of arginase-1 leads to a profound phenotype similar to inducible whole body arginase-1 deficiency [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Arginase-1 (Arg1) converts arginine to urea and ornithine in the distal step of the urea cycle in liver. We previously generated a tamoxifen-inducible Arg1 deficient mouse model (Arg1-Cre) that disrupts Arg1 expression throughout the whole body and leads

Fluid Shear‐Controlled Pro/Anti‐Inflammatory Osteomodulatory Construct for Drug‐Free Immune Activation Through Cationic Ion Channel Activation

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A 3D‐printed PCL scaffold coated with Arginine was laminated with electrospun polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) nanofibers containing cationic cellulose nanocrystals (PVA@cCNC). This created nanoisland‐like regions of aligned and random cCNC‐rich fibers. The composite scaffold, under fluid shear stimulation, modulated macrophage polarization from M1 to M2 ...

Сhanges in subcellular distribution of lysosomal cysteine proteinases activity in parenchymatous organs of rats under the action of nitric oxide synthesis modulators

open access: yesИсследования и практика в медицине, 2018
Aim. To study the effect of non-selective inhibitor of NO-synthase N-nitro-L-arginine methyl ester (L-NAME) and substrate of nitric oxide synthesis L-arginine on the activity of cathepsins B, L, H and its subcellular distribution in liver, kidney and lung

Nitric Oxide‐Releasing Catheters with Phenol‐Amine Catalytic Coatings for Improved Anti‐Inflammatory Performance

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Tannic acid‐selenocystamine (TA‐SeCA) nanocoating enables stable, sustained catalytic nitric oxide (NO) release on catheter surfaces. This one‐step phenol‐amine coating improves catheter functionality by enhancing endogenous NO production, supporting vascular function, and reducing inflammation.

Arginine methylation at a glance [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Cell Science, 2007
Arginine methylation is a prevalent post-translational modification found on both nuclear and cytoplasmic proteins. The methylation of arginine residues is catalyzed by the protein arginine N -methyltransferase (PRMT) family of enzymes.

Myeloperoxidase Luminol Reaction – A Novel Faecal Assay for Predicting Colonoscopy Findings in Patients with Ulcerative Colitis: A Pilot Cross‐Sectional Clinical Study

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Can luminol detect faecal inflammation? This study explores the development and optimisation of a rapid novel assay ‐ Myeloperoxidase Luminol Reaction (MPOLR) for the detection of faecal myeloperoxidase activity. This simple and rapid luminol‐based approach competes with clinically validated faecal biomarkers in predicting endoscopic findings in ...

ROS‐Scavenging Multifunctional Microneedle Patch Facilitating Wound Healing

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A reactive oxygen species (ROS) scavenging and immunomodulatory microneedle patch based on hyaluronic acid methacrylate (HaMA) and Flightless I (Flii)‐siRNA‐laden arginine functionalized poly (β‐amino ester)/alginate particles is developed for chronic wound healing applications.
