Engineered Plasmonic and Fluorescent Nanomaterials for Biosensing, Motion, Imaging, and Therapeutic Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A schematic illustration of how noble metals can be used to create nanoparticles (NPs) or nanoclusters (NCs). Noble metal NPs, due to their plasmonic properties, enable photothermal therapy and surface‐enhanced Raman scattering (SERS). In contrast, NCs, which lack a plasmonic resonance band, exhibit fluorescence, making them ideal for bioimaging ...

Mechanistic target of rapamycin (mTOR) activation during ruminant mammary development and function : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Animal Science at Massey University, Palmerston North, New Zealand [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
This thesis examines the abundance of total and activated mechanistic target of rapamycin (mTOR) pathway components in the developing and functional ruminant mammary gland. mTOR pathway activation is stimulated by a wide range of intra- and extracellular

High‐Speed Raman Readout of Single Polypeptides via Plasmonic Nanopores

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A label‐free method is presented for single‐protein investigation using plasmonic nanopores that enable stable, cost‐effective Raman detection of polypeptides in real time. An average of 6 photons is measured during a dwell time of 7 microseconds per amino acid.
