Carbamylation of Oxytocin and Arginine-Vasopressin

Nature, 1963
SYNTHETIC analogues of oxytocin and vasopressin in which the terminal amino group is absent or modified exhibit remarkable differences in biological activity. Whereas desamino-oxytocin is highly active1,2, analogues of oxytocin in which the amino group is substituted by acylation or alkylation retain little pharmacological activity3–5, and some act as ...

Arginine-vasopressin in essential hypernatremia

Journal of Endocrinological Investigation, 1986
Dynamics of AVP secretion in a 14-year-old girl with essential hypernatremia, psychomotor retardation and optic nerve coloboma, are reported. Basal levels of AVP were similar to those of a control population, but disproportionately low in relation with natremies.

HUMAN PLATELET ARGININE VASOPRESSIN

Clinical Endocrinology, 1986
SUMMARYApproximately 90% of arginine vasopressin circulating in blood is associated with the platelets. Studies in six patients with cranial diabetes insipidus indicate that the platelet vasopressin originates in the hypothalamus and is taken up from plasma.

Arginine vasopressin-Venus reporter mice as a tool for studying magnocellular arginine vasopressin neurons

Peptides, 2021
Arginine vasopressin (AVP) synthesized in the magnocellular neurons of the hypothalamus is transported through their axons and released from the posterior pituitary into the systemic circulation to act as an antidiuretic hormone. AVP synthesis and release are precisely regulated by changes in plasma osmolality.

Hypersecretion of Arginine Vasopressin in Acromegaly

The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism, 1971
ABSTRACT Four of 5 patients with untreated active acromegaly demonstrated prolonged antidiuresis and sustained release of arginine vasopressin (AVP) with nicotine stimulation of the neurohypophysis. This hyperresponsiveness was acutely suppressed by adrenal steroids in 2 subjects.

Enzyme immunoassay for arginine vasopressin

Experientia, 1982
A highly sensitive enzyme immunoassay for arginine vasopressin (AVP) was described. The enzyme used was β-D-galactosidase fromEscherichia coli, and it was coupled to AVP by using the N-hydroxysuccinimide ester of N-(4-carboxycyclohexylmethyl)-maleimide.

THE DEVELOPMENT OF A RADIOIMMUNOASSAY FOR ARGININE VASOPRESSIN

Acta Endocrinologica, 1976
ABSTRACT The development of a sensitive and specific radioimmunoassay for vasopressin is described. Antibodies were successfully produced following the coupling of synthetic arginine vasopressin with bovine serum albumin carried out with carbodiimide.

Arginine vasopressin in Cushing's disease

The Lancet, 1990
Bilateral simultaneous blood samples were taken from the inferior petrosal sinuses of nine patients with Cushing's disease for measurement of adrenocorticotropin (ACTH), vasopressin (AVP), prolactin, growth hormone, luteinising hormone (LH), and follicle stimulating hormone (FSH).

Arginine Vasopressin and Osmolality in the Elderly

Journal of the American Geriatrics Society, 1994
Objectives: To evaluate the influence of age on plasma arginine vasopressin (AVP) concentrations and the relationship between plasma AVP and serum osmolality in younger and older subjects, and in the elderly, to assess the effect of gender on plasma AVP concentration and to determine the impact of prostaglandin ...

Blood–cerebrospinal fluid barrier to arginine-vasopressin, desmopressin and desglycinamide arginine-vasopressin in the dog

Journal of Endocrinology, 1982
The passage of 125I-labelled arginine-vasopressin (AVP) and its analogues desmopressin (DDAVP) and desglycinamide arginine-vasopressin (DGAVP) into cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) has been studied in the dog. After intravenous injection or infusion of these peptides radioactive sustances were found in the CSF in amounts ranging from 0·5 to 1·4% of the total ...
