Preliminary test results of LAr prototype detector

open access: yes, 2016
WIMPs are a well-motivated galactic dark matter candidate. Liquid argon (LAr) is an attractive target for the direct detection of WIMPs. The LAr prototype detector is designed to study the technology and property of LAr detector.

Influence of the CO2 Content in Shielding Gas on the Temperature of the Shielding Gas Nozzle during GMAW Welding

open access: yesJournal of Manufacturing and Materials Processing, 2020
Gas metal arc welding torches are commonly chosen based on their current-carrying capacity. It is known that the current-carrying capacity of welding torches under CO2 is usually higher than under argon dominated shielding gases. In this publication, the

Low temperature scattering with the R-matrix method: argon-argon scattering

open access: yes, 2019
Results for elastic atom-atom scattering are obtained as a first practical application of RmatReact, a new code for generating high-accuracy scattering observables from potential energy curves.

An evaluation of weld metal nitrogen retention and properties in 316NL austenitic stainless steel [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
A series of tests were conducted using varying levels of nitrogen and helium in a conventional argon shielding gas when welding 316LN austenitic stainless steel. The outcome was that a 15 per cent nitrogen addition to the argon shielding gas had the most

Static and dynamic aspects of coupling between creep behavior and oxidation on MC2 single crystal superalloy at 1150 °C [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Creep tests were performed on thin wall specimens made of MC2 single crystal superalloy at 1150 °C and under controlled atmosphere. The results highlight the deleterious oxidation effect on creep properties.

The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

PARP inhibitors elicit distinct transcriptional programs in homologous recombination competent castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PARP inhibitors are used to treat a small subset of prostate cancer patients. These studies reveal that PARP1 activity and expression are different between European American and African American prostate cancer tissue samples. Additionally, different PARP inhibitors cause unique and overlapping transcriptional changes, notably, p53 pathway upregulation.

Effects of substrate and ambient gas on epitaxial growth indium oxide thin films [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Indium oxide thin films were grown by pulsed electron beam deposition method at 500 °C on c-cut sapphire and (0 0 1) oriented LaAlO3 single crystal substrates in oxygen or argon gas.

CDK11 inhibition induces cytoplasmic p21WAF1 splice variant by p53 stabilisation and SF3B1 inactivation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
CDK11 inhibition stabilises the tumour suppressor p53 and triggers the production of an alternative p21WAF1 splice variant p21L, through the inactivation of the spliceosomal protein SF3B1. Unlike the canonical p21WAF1 protein, p21L is localised in the cytoplasm and has reduced cell cycle‐blocking activity.

A New Non-Extensive Equation of State for the Fluid Phases of Argon, Including the Metastable States, from the Melting Line to 2300 K and 50 GPa

open access: yesFluids
A new equation of state for argon was developed with the view of extending the range of validity of the equation of state previously proposed by Tegeler et al.
