Molecular Dynamics Study of Argon Flow in a Carbon Nanotube [PDF]
This study focuses on trying to understand the flow of argon inside carbon nanotubes. The methodology of molecular dynamics and its implementation as a tool to effectively model fluid flows inside nanocomponents is established, followed by an understanding of the intermolecular potentials which effectively model the interactions between the argon and ...

Argon Adsorption on Cationic Gold Clusters Aun+ (n ≤ 20)
The interaction of Aun+ (n ≤ 20) clusters with Ar is investigated by combining mass spectrometric experiments and density functional theory calculations. We show that the inert Ar atom forms relatively strong bonds with Aun+.

Calibrating and testing tissue equivalent proportional counters with 37Ar [PDF]
A method for testing and calibrating tissue equivalent proportional counters with37Ar is described.37Ar is produced by exposure of argon in its normal isotope composition to thermal neutrons. It is shown that - up to volume ratios of 0.01 of argon to the

Arc pressure and weld metal fluid flow whilst using alternating shielding gases Part 2 : arc force determination [PDF]
The transient variation of the shielding gas present in the alternating shielding gas process produces a dynamic action within the liquid weld metal. Flow vectors opposite in direction have been reported due to the various forces acting on the weld metal

Method to determine argon metastable number density and plasma electron temperature from spectral emission originating from four 4p argon levels [PDF]
A simple model and method is proposed here to determine argon metastable number densities and electron temperature with the assumption of a Maxwell-Boltzmann electron energy distribution. This method is based on the availability of experimental relative emission intensities of only four argon lines that originate from any of the 4p argon levels.

Nitrogen and argon doping of niobium for superconducting radio frequency cavities: a pathway to highly efficient accelerating structures [PDF]
We report a surface treatment that systematically improves the quality factor of niobium radio frequency cavities beyond the expected limit for niobium.

Plasma modification of soft polymeric surfaces has many prospects in creating biomedical devices. The deformability of the obtained coatings should be studied, as the usage of such materials implies mechanical loads.

Luminescence quenching of the triplet excimer state by air traces in gaseous argon [PDF]
While developing a liquid argon detector for dark matter searches we investigate the influence of air contamination on the VUV scintillation yield in gaseous argon at atmospheric pressure. We determine with a radioactive alpha-source the photon yield for
