New Host Records for the Marine Fish EctoparasiteArgulus vittatus(Crustacea: Branchiura: Argulidae)
Comparative Parasitology, 2017ABSTRACT: The branchiuran parasite Argulus vittatus (Crustacea: Branchiura: Argulidae) was collected from the pectoral fin of the axillary bream Pagellus acarne, comber Serranus cabrilla, and greater amberjack Seriola dumerili from the northern coasts of Sicily (Mediterranean Sea), Italy. Pagellus acarne, Serranus cabrilla, and Seriola dumerili are new

ABSTRACT: The branchiuran parasite Argulus japonicus (Crustacea: Branchiura: Argulidae) was collected from the body surface of the Rosy bitterling Rhodeus ocellatus from Kumamoto Prefecture, Kyushu, Japan. The present study represents the first record of A. japonicus obtained from Kyushu. Rhodeus ocellatus is a new host for A. japonicus.

AbstractThis study investigated the acute toxicity (LC50‐24 hr) effects of the essential oil of Cymbopogon citratus for adult Argulus sp. and Dolops discoidalis, before and during oviposition. In vitro acute toxicity (LC50‐24 hr) was tested using 20, 40, 60, 80, 100, 120, 140 and 160 μg/L of C.

Ecological studies of host–parasite interactions in the tropics are generally restricted to descriptive taxonomic aspects. The present study had as its objective identification of the metazoan ectoparasites of piranhas Pygocentrus nattereri, Serrasalmus spilopleura and S. marginatus in lentic and lotic environments in the Pantanal region, Brazil.
