Small clause results revisited [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The main purpose of this paper is to show that argument structure constructions like complex telic path of motion constructions (John walked to the store) or complex resultative constructions (The dog barked the chickens awake) are not to be regarded as "

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

A ministry of (not-so-silly) walks: Investigating classifier handshapes for animate referents in DGS

open access: yesOpen Linguistics
Across sign languages, classifier predicates depict the movement, location, or manipulation of (in-)animate entities. Each classifier predicate contains a classifier handshape that represents a referent based on one or more of its salient semantic and/or

The European Public(s) and its Problems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
I present three versions –Grimm, Offe and Streeck—of a general argument that is often used to establish that the EU-institutions meets a legitimacy-disabling condition, the so called “no demos” argument (II), embedding them in the context of the ...

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Relevant elments, Magnetization and Dynamical Properties in Kauffman Networks: a Numerical Study

open access: yes, 1997
This is the first of two papers about the structure of Kauffman networks. In this paper we define the relevant elements of random networks of automata, following previous work by Flyvbjerg and Flyvbjerg and Kjaer, and we study numerically their ...

A methionine‐lined active site governs carbocation stabilization and product specificity in a bacterial terpene synthase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These
