Economic rationality and abstract argumentation [Elektronisk resurs]

open access: yes, 2020
This article presents a line of work that builds a bridge between abstract argumentation as a method of non-monotonic reasoning and formal models of economically rational decision-making.

Revisiting Stability Criteria in Ball‐Milled High‐Entropy Alloys: Do Hume–Rothery and Thermodynamic Rules Equally Apply?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
The stability criteria affecting the formation of high‐entropy alloys, particularly focusing in supersaturated solid solutions produced by mechanical alloying, are analyzed. Criteria based on Hume–Rothery rules are distinguished from those derived from thermodynamic relations. The formers are generally applicable to mechanically alloyed samples.

Setup‐Optimized Sequencing in Job Shops: Modeling Workstation Productivity and Lateness Behavior

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Setup‐optimized sequencing in job‐shop production creates a trade‐off between productivity improvement and schedule reliability. A WIP‐explicit modeling framework links sequencing‐induced productivity gains and lateness dispersion through the production operating curve.

Argumentation and machine learning

open access: yes
In this chapter, we overview research works that combine Computational Argumentation (henceforth simply argumentation) and Machine Learning (ML). In this section, we start with a general outlook of the themes and trends prevalent among the individual ...

Foundations of Implementations for Formal Argumentation

open access: yes, 2018
We survey the current state of the art of general techniques, as well as specific software systems for solving tasks in abstract argumentation frameworks, structured argumentation frameworks, and approaches for visualizing and analysing argumentation.

Removing Oxide Layers and Retaining Oxide‐Free Steel Surfaces by Polishing in Oxygen‐Free Atmosphere

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
In this study, the efficacy of wet mechanical polishing under an oxygen‐free atmosphere for deoxidation and the retention of an oxide‐free steel surface are elucidated using X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The methodology proved successful; however, the results were highly dependent on the preparation of the solvents used to clean the samples after ...

Field Report from Collaborative Research Center 1625: Heterogeneous Research Data Management Using Ontology Representations

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A unified research data management framework for heterogeneous materials data is presented. The system integrates multimodal datasets using ontologies and knowledge graphs, enabling interoperability and FAIR (findable, accessible, interoperable, reusable) data principles. By linking data across scales and workflows, it supports reproducible, Artifitial
