The relationship between height and arm span, mid-upper arm and waist circumferences in children

open access: yesAnnals of Human Biology, 2009
Height is a significant parameter in assessment of growth, development, and nutritional status. The aim of this study was to assess the relationship between height and arm span, mid-upper arm and waist circumferences in Turkish children.Height, arm span, mid-upper arm and waist circumferences were measured in 1145 boys and 1372 girls aged 7-14 years old

Disordered but rhythmic—the role of intrinsic protein disorder in eukaryotic circadian timing

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Unstructured domains known as intrinsically disordered regions (IDRs) are present in nearly every part of the eukaryotic core circadian oscillator. IDRs enable many diverse inter‐ and intramolecular interactions that support clock function. IDR conformations are highly tunable by post‐translational modifications and environmental conditions, which ...

Association of Height and Arm Span in Young Healthy Subjects

open access: yesNepal Journal of Health Sciences, 2022
Introduction: Height is used to calculating body mass index and body surface area which are used to interpret renal function tests and pulmonary function tests. The maximum vertical measurement of a person is the standing height. Arm span is the measurement between the tip of the middle finger of the right and left hands.

Conserved structural motifs in PAS, LOV, and CRY proteins regulate circadian rhythms and are therapeutic targets

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cryptochrome and PAS/LOV proteins play intricate roles in circadian clocks where they act as both sensors and mediators of protein–protein interactions. Their ubiquitous presence in signaling networks has positioned them as targets for small‐molecule therapeutics. This review provides a structural introduction to these protein families.

Body Height and Its Estimation Utilizing Arm Span Measurements in Adolescents From Northern Region in Montenegro [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Anthropology of Sport and Physical Education, 2018
The purpose of this research was to examine Montenegrin adolescents’ body height from the northern region. Also, the research examines an arm span as an alternative assessment for measuring the body height which varies from region to region in Montenegro.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 increases metastatic potential and aggressiveness in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...

Relationship Between arm Span and Human Stature

open access: yesIndian Journal of Forensic Medicine & Toxicology
Background: Incomplete human remains may be recovered from crime scenes in some cases. Stature estimation from this remains may be very important in the personal identification of the corpse or living. If the stature could be estimated it can definitely narrow down the search in missing individual data base.
