Arsenite-induced changes in abundance and expression of arsenite transporter and arsenite oxidase genes of a soil microbial community

Research in Microbiology, 2013
We describe a real-time PCR assay for the quantitative detection of arsB and ACR3(1) arsenite transporter gene families, two ubiquitous and key determinants of arsenic resistance in prokaryotes. The assay was applied in batch growth experiments using a wasteland soil bacterial community as an inoculum to investigate the effect of increasing arsenite ...

Long-term arsenite exposure induces testicular toxicity by redox imbalance, G2/M cell arrest and apoptosis in mice.

Toxicology, 2019
Inorganic arsenic (iAs), a ubiquitous element and a natural drinking water contaminant, has been found to impair male reproductive function. However, the effect of long-term exposure to arsenic on testis damage and its underlying mechanisms still require

Exosomal MALAT1 Derived from Hepatic Cells is Involved in The Activation of Hepatic Stellate Cells via miRNA-26b in Fibrosis Induced by Arsenite.

Toxicology Letters, 2019
In the liver microenvironment, interactions among diverse types of hepatic cells are involved in liver fibrosis. In fibrotic tissues, exosomes act as transporters in intercellular communication.

The metabolism of arsenite and arsenate by the rat

Fundamental and Applied Toxicology, 1983
Differences in distribution and metabolism of arsenite and arsenate were studied in rats and in rat liver and kidney slices and hepatocytes. Five minutes after i.v. administration of 4.8 nmol arsenite or arsenate to male Sprague-Dawley rats, blood levels of arsenic were only 10 percent of the initial dose.

Application of iron-modified biochar for arsenite removal and toxicity reduction

, 2019
In the present study, the Miscanthus biochar was modified with amorphous iron (hydr)oxide to remove arsenite. The kinetic study indicated the chemical adsorption of arsenite on the iron-modified biochar.

Changes of RNA N6-methyladenosine in the hormesis effect induced by arsenite on human keratinocyte cells.

Toxicology in Vitro, 2019
Arsenite exposure can induce a biphasic response called "hormesis", and oxidative stress has been proposed to play critical roles in the hormesis effect.

Copper (II) and/or arsenite-induced oxidative stress cascades apoptosis and autophagy in the skeletal muscles of chicken.

Chemosphere, 2018
Arsenic (As) is a ubiquitous environmental toxin and robust inducer of oxidative stress (OxS). Copper (Cu) is an essential microelement, which participates in OxS as a cofactor for certain enzymes, with narrow optimal range between essential and toxic ...

Arsenite removal without thioarsenite formation in a sulfidogenic system driven by sulfur reducing bacteria under acidic conditions.

Water Research, 2019
Sulfidogenic process using sulfate-reducing bacteria (SRB) has been used to remove arsenite from the arsenic-contaminated waters through the precipitation of arsenite with sulfide. However, excessive sulfide production and significant pH increase induced

The Arsenite Schism

A plasmid-encoded arsenite pump produces arsenite resistance in Escherichia coli

Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1984
The arsenate resistance operon of R-factor R773, a conjugative resistance plasmid, has two functional regions, a promoter-proximal region encoding resistance to arsenite and antimonate, and a promoter-distal one encoding arsenate resistance. Cells bearing arsenite resistance plasmids exhibited reduced accumulation of 74AsO2-.
