Phenotypic estimates and heritability values of Artemia franciscana [PDF]
Artemia, in all stages of its life cycle, is suitable food for most diversi¢ed groups of aquatic animals. Although its size at different stages restricts its use as a food for some groups of ¢sh, this problem can be overcome using selective breeding ...

High-Throughput Phototactic Ecotoxicity Biotests with Nauplii of Artemia franciscana. [PDF]
Analysis of sensorimotor behavioral responses to stimuli such as light can provide an enhanced relevance during rapid prioritisation of chemical risk. Due to technical limitations, there have been, however, only minimal studies on using invertebrate phototactic behaviors in aquatic ecotoxicity testing.

The Sex-Specific Splicing of Doublesex in Brine Shrimp Artemia franciscana. [PDF]
The understanding of sex determination and differentiation in animals has recently made remarkable strides through the use of advanced research tools. At the gene level, the Mab-3-related transcription factor (Dmrt) gene family, which encodes for the typical DNA-binding doublesex/Mab-3 (DM) domain in their protein, is known for its contribution to sex ...

Whole genome survey and microsatellite motif identification of Artemia franciscana. [PDF]
AbstractArtemia is an industrially important genus used in aquaculture as a nutritious diet for fish and as an aquatic model organism for toxicity tests. However, despite the significance of Artemia, genomic research remains incomplete and knowledge on its genomic characteristics is insufficient.

TDCIPP exposure affects Artemia franciscana growth and osmoregulation. [PDF]
Environmental monitoring has demonstrated widespread occurrence of the flame-retardant tris(1,3-dichloro-2-propyl) phosphate (TDCIPP), raising concerns about the impact on aquatic life. Using 1H NMR and GC-MS metabolomics and 20-day body length experiments, we have determined that exposure to TDCIPP affects Artemia franciscana.

Anesthesia and Euthanasia of Brine Shrimp (Artemia franciscana). [PDF]
Invertebrates are often overlooked as laboratory animals, yet they are commonly used in toxicology, developmental, cellular and molecular biology, and radiation studies with euthanasia as an endpoint. Little is known regarding appropriate euthanasia methods for invertebrate species, particularly for Artemia.
