Association of Arterial Stiffness with Chronic Kidney Disease: A Systematic Review

open access: yesKidney & Blood Pressure Research
Introduction: Significant kidney function may be lost before CKD is diagnosed. Arterial stiffness may be a risk factor for CKD and the relationship may be bi-directional.

Bioxolography Using Diphenyliodonium Chloride and N‐Vinylpyrrolidone Enables Rapid High‐Resolution Volumetric 3D Printing of Spatially Encoded Living Matter

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Bioxolography, a novel volumetric 3D‐bioprinting technique, enables rapid and high‐resolution fabrication of >1 cm3 engineered living materials. A newly developed three‐component photoinitiator system significantly enhances the photoreactivity of gelatin methacryloyl‐based bioresins, allowing for precise xolographic bioprinting.

P151 ARTERIAL STIFFNESS RESPONSE TO ACUTE AEROBIC AND RESISTANCE EXERCISE IN OLDER PATIENTS WITH CORONARY ARTERY DISEASE

open access: yesArtery Research, 2018
Introduction: Arterial stiffness is associated with coronary artery disease (CAD). Acute aerobic exercise decreases arterial stiffness, while acute resistance exercise increases arterial stiffness.

How does empagliflozin improve arterial stiffness in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus? Sub analysis of a clinical trial

open access: yesCardiovascular Diabetology, 2019
BackgroundEmpagliflozin has been shown to reduce cardiovascular mortality, but the underlying pathogenetic mechanisms are poorly understood. It was previously demonstrated that empagliflozin improved arterial stiffness.MethodsOur analysis comprising 58 ...

Microfluidic Production of Ultrathin, Handleable Collagen Sheets Exhibiting Toe‐heel Tensile Behavior

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
This study presents a microfluidic wet spinning technique for producing ultrathin, templated collagen sheets with hierarchical organization at the microscale. The aligned collagen sheets replicate strain‐stiffening behavior associated with native cardiovascular tissues, sup cell attachment and contraction, and enable biofabrication of load‐bearing ...

Relationship of Arterial Stiffness Index and Pulse Pressure With Cardiovascular Disease and Mortality

open access: yesJournal of the American Heart Association : Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Disease, 2018
Background Vascular aging results in stiffer arteries and may have a role in the development of cardiovascular disease (CVD). Arterial stiffness index (ASI), measured by finger photoplethysmography, and pulse pressure (PP) are 2 independent vascular ...
