The background factors and surgical results of 546 patients with arteriosclerosis obliterans (ASO) in an early group (between January 1976 and December 1989) were compared with those of 454 patients in a later group (between January 1990 and July 1998). The later group was older than the early group and had less critical leg ischemia.
