Why human connection is the true metric of research success
Human‐centred mentorship can be shaped by mentor attributes, actions, intrinsic drive and career ambition. Drawing on reflections across Singapore and France, as well as workshop insights from FEBS‐IUBMB ENABLE 2024, this article shows that human‐centred mentorship creates the conditions for sustainable growth, well‐being and retention in research ...

La articulación de le expresión escrita. The articulation of written expression [PDF]
En este trabajo se aportan argumentos lingüísticos a favor de la autonomía funcional de la expresión escrita. Esta presentaría una estructuración independiente de la oralidad que, sin embargo, descansaría sobre los mismos principios básicos, estando ...

YIPFα1A expression is regulated by multilayered molecular mechanisms
YIPFα1A, a five‐pass Golgi protein, is regulated at multiple layers. (1) Rare‐codon enrichment drives translation‐coupled mRNA decay. (2) A proximal 3′‐UTR element stabilizes mRNA. (3) A distal 3′‐UTR element included by alternate poly(A) site usage represses translation, which can be overridden by the proximal 3′‐UTR element.

Spatial articulation affects lightness. [PDF]
In a recent paper, Agostini and Bruno (1996) showed that the size of simultaneous lightness contrast increases under Gelb lighting. To extend Agostini and Bruno's work, we applied their methodology to a set of more spatially articulated displays. In four

Derivation and characterization of retinal pigment epithelium from urine‐derived iPSCs
Age‐related macular degeneration causes vision loss via RPE dysfunction and loss. Traditional iPSC therapies rely on invasive biopsies, limiting scalability. Here, we utilize urine‐derived stem cells as an accessible source to generate u‐iPSCs, successfully differentiated into pigmented RPE. This “Urine‐to‐Retina” platform provides a promising path for

Evolutionary analysis across 32 placental mammals identified positive selection at residues H148 and W149 in the immune receptor FcγR1. Ancestral reconstruction combined with molecular dynamics simulations reveals how these mutations may influence receptor structure and dynamics, providing insight into the evolution of antibody recognition and immune ...

Articulation Strength -- Readability Experiments [PDF]
A series of perceptual experiments with a parametrically controlled synthetic talking face was performed in order to investigate how a global scaling of the amplitude of the articulatory movements (articulation strength) affects audiovisual ...

Early‐life exposure to a high‐fat diet altered intact Achilles tendons in rat offspring, making them thinner, stiffer, and molecularly distinct even without injury. These findings suggest that developmental high‐fat diet exposure may impair tendon quality and increase susceptibility to mechanical overload or tendon injury later in life.
