Material participation and the smart grid: Exploring different modes of articulation

open access: yes, 2015
Many experts are concerned about the would-be character of smart grid users—specifically, that they will not engage with smart grid technologies out of disinterest or a lack of knowledge.

The C/D Model and the Effect of Prosodic Structure on Articulation

open access: yesLanguages
The Converter/Distributor (C/D) model, as proposed by Fujimura is theoretically grounded on articulatory observations of X-ray microbeam (XRMB) data that show that utterance syllable prominence patterns “dictate” the size, timing and phrasing of ...

PARP inhibitors induce a senescence phenotype in non‐small cell lung carcinoma cell lines

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Talazoparib is the most potent inducer of senescence among different PARP1 inhibitors in human NSCLC cells. In the absence of PARP, no senescence phenotype was observed, demonstrating that PARP1 is necessary for the induction of senescence by this inhibitor.

Articulation pathways to surveying and spatial information qualifications

open access: yes, 2007
The University of Southern Queensland (USQ) has a unique suite of undergraduate spatial science (surveying and spatial information) programs and study modes that provide user-defined articulated pathways for achieving an individual's career ambitions ...

Promiscuous stimulation of HSP70 ATPase activity by parasite‐derived J‐domains

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum exports three highly homologous yet functionally divergent J‐domain proteins into human erythrocytes. Here, we show that J‐domains isolated from all three proteins effectively stimulate the ATPase activity of both endogenous host and exported parasite HSP70 chaperones.

Computing strong articulation points and strong bridges in large scale graphs

open access: yes, 2012
Let G = (V,E) be a directed graph. A vertex v ∈ V (respectively an edge e ∈ E) is a strong articulation point (respectively a strong bridge) if its removal increases the number of strongly connected components of G.

Analysis of Tonguing and Blowing Actions During Clarinet Performance

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology, 2018
Articulation on the clarinet is achieved by a combination of precise actions taking place inside the player's mouth. With the aim to analyse the effects of tonguing and blowing actions during playing, several physical variables are measured and ...

Identification of functional murine mitochondrial formyl peptides and their effects on myeloid‐derived suppressor cell generation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We first identified functional murine mitochondrial N‐formyl peptides (MT‐FPs) and investigated their effects on the in vitro myeloid‐derived suppressor cell (MDSC) generation from bone marrow cells. We demonstrated that MT‐FPs acted directly on bone marrow cells to promote MDSC generation and modulated the polymorphonuclear (PMN)‐MDSC/monocyte (M ...
