The Mass of the Planet-hosting Giant Star Beta Geminorum Determined from its p-mode Oscillation Spectrum [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
We use precise radial velocity measurements and photometric data to derive the frequency spacing of the p-mode oscillation spectrum of the planet-hosting star Beta Gem. This spacing along with the interferometric radius for this star is used to derive an

Study of variation in dose calculation accuracy between kV cone-beam computed tomography and kV fan-Beam computed tomography

open access: yesJournal of Medical Physics, 2017
Cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) images are presently used for geometric verification for daily patient positioning. In this work, we have compared the images of CBCT with the images of conventional fan beam CT (FBCT) in terms of image quality and ...

X-ray scatter removal for artifact free CT imaging

open access: yese-Journal of Nondestructive Testing, 2020
In this paper we present a method to compensate for scattered radiation artifacts. Using a newly developed workflow to determine the scattered radiation, scatter artifacts can be dramatically reduced to a level, where further evaluation of the data becomes possible with state-of-the-art algorithms.

YOLO-Based Shading Artifact Reduction for CBCT-to-MDCT Translation Using Two-Stage Learning

open access: yesMathematics
Cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) offers advantages of low radiation dose and rapid acquisition but suffers from scatter-induced shading artifacts that limit diagnostic value compared to multi-detector CT (MDCT).

Optical Activity of Membrane Suspensions: Calculation of Artifacts by Mie Scattering Theory [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, 1971
The circular dichroism, optical rotatory dispersion, and optical density of a suspension of erythrocyte ghosts are calculated from the measured optical properties of solubilized ghosts by classical general scattering theory (Mie theory). The ghost is represented by a solvent-filled spherical shell 7 nm (70 Å) thick and 3.5 μm in radius.

Crucial parameters for precise copy number variation detection in formalin‐fixed paraffin‐embedded solid cancer samples

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that copy number variations (CNVs) can be reliably detected in formalin‐fixed paraffin‐embedded (FFPE) solid cancer samples using ultra‐low‐pass whole‐genome sequencing, provided that key (pre)‐analytical parameters are optimized.

Multi‐omics and low‐input proteomics profiling reveals dynamic regulation driving pluripotency initiation in early mouse embryos

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Mouse pre‐implantation development involves a transition from totipotency to pluripotency. Integrating transcriptomics, epigenetic profiling, low‐input proteomics and functional assays, we show that eight‐cell embryos retain residual totipotency features, whereas cytoskeletal remodeling regulated by the ubiquitin‐proteasome system drives progression ...

Artificial Intelligence for Artifact Reduction in Cone Beam Computed Tomographic Images: A Systematic Review

open access: yesApplied Sciences
Cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) allows for rapid and accessible acquisition of three-dimensional images with a lower radiation dose compared to conventional computed tomography (CT) scans.

Environmental Dependence of the Fundamental Plane of Galaxy Clusters

open access: yes, 1999
Galaxy clusters approximate a planar (FP) distribution in a three-dimensional parameter space which can be characterized by optical luminosity, half-light radius, and X-ray luminosity.
