Ethics of Artificial Intelligence [PDF]
Artificial intelligence (AI) is a digital technology that will be of major importance for the development of humanity in the near future. AI has raised fundamental questions about what we should do with such systems, what the systems themselves should do,

Aggressive prostate cancer is associated with pericyte dysfunction
Tumor‐produced TGF‐β drives pericyte dysfunction in prostate cancer. This dysfunction is characterized by downregulation of some canonical pericyte markers (i.e., DES, CSPG4, and ACTA2) while maintaining the expression of others (i.e., PDGFRB, NOTCH3, and RGS5).

CDK11 inhibition stabilises the tumour suppressor p53 and triggers the production of an alternative p21WAF1 splice variant p21L, through the inactivation of the spliceosomal protein SF3B1. Unlike the canonical p21WAF1 protein, p21L is localised in the cytoplasm and has reduced cell cycle‐blocking activity.

Gauge matters: Observing the vortex-nucleation transition in a Bose condensate
The order parameter of a quantum-coherent many-body system can include a phase degree of freedom, which, in the presence of an electromagnetic field, depends on the choice of gauge. Because of the relationship between the phase gradient and the velocity,

Clinical trials on PARP inhibitors in urothelial carcinoma (UC) showed limited efficacy and a lack of predictive biomarkers. We propose SLFN5, SLFN11, and OAS1 as UC‐specific response predictors. We suggest Talazoparib as the better PARP inhibitor for UC than Olaparib.

“AI-Eyes Healthcare” – A glimpse into the role of artificial intelligence in healthcare and the possible implications in Indian Scenario [PDF]
Artificial Intelligence (AI) can be described in simplistic terms as “Thinking Machines, a term first coined by one of the founding Fathers of Artificial Intelligence, Prof John McCarthy, nearly 63 years ago [1].

Liquid biopsy enables minimally invasive, real‐time molecular profiling through analysis of circulating biomarkers in biological fluids. This Perspective highlights the importance of training pathologists through integrative educational programs, such as the European Masters in Molecular Pathology, to ensure effective and equitable implementation of ...

Observation of Light Guiding by Artificial Gauge Fields
The use of artificial gauge fields enables systems of uncharged particles to behave as if affected by external fields. Generated by geometry or external modulation, artificial gauge fields have been instrumental in demonstrating topological phenomena in ...
