Ethics of Artificial Intelligence [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
Artificial intelligence (AI) is a digital technology that will be of major importance for the development of humanity in the near future. AI has raised fundamental questions about what we should do with such systems, what the systems themselves should do,

Biological and technical complexities in analyzing extracellular vesicle immune interactions in B‐cell malignancies

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Extracellular vesicles (EVs) mediate intercellular communication in tumor immune microenvironments. However, their role in B‐cell malignancies remains poorly defined, owing to biological complexity and technical challenges in EV isolation and analysis.

The epithelial barrier theory proposes a comprehensive explanation for the origins of allergic and other chronic noncommunicable diseases

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Exposure to common noxious agents (1), including allergens, pollutants, and micro‐nanoplastics, can cause epithelial barrier damage (2) in our body's protective linings. This may trigger an immune response to our microbiome (3). The epithelial barrier theory explains how this process can lead to chronic noncommunicable diseases (4) affecting organs ...

FERROMAGNETIC ARTIFICIAL CELLS FOR ARTIFICIAL CIRCULATION

open access: yesASAIO Journal, 1996
It is known that deoxygenated blood is paramagnetic. A ferrofluidic actuator for an implantable artificial heart has been studied. The magnetic fluid consists of ferromagnetic magnetite particles (10 nm). If artificial cells encapsulating ferromagnetic particles are mixed in blood, the circulation is maintained by applying a magnetic field to the blood.

Artificial limb connection [PDF]

open access: yes, 1974
Connection simplifies and eases donning and removing artificial limb; eliminates harnesses and clamps; and reduces skin pressures by allowing bone to carry all tensile and part of compressive loads between prosthesis and stump.

From omics to AI—mapping the pathogenic pathways in type 2 diabetes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Integrating multi‐omics data with AI‐based modelling (unsupervised and supervised machine learning) identify optimal patient clusters, informing AI‐driven accurate risk stratification. Digital twins simulate individual trajectories in real time, guiding precision medicine by matching patients to targeted therapies.
