Miniaturization of artificial magnetic conductors
2010 IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society International Symposium, 2010In this paper, we introduce a novel multilayer artificial magnetic conductor providing a λ/60 unit cell periodicity while maintaining a 10% bandwidth. Full-wave simulations are mainly driven to give a proof of concept of this miniaturization method. Experimental validation of simple cases leads to a very good agreement with both numerical results and ...

Microwave and Optical Technology Letters, 2012
AbstractThe general properties of a frequency selective surface loaded with negative impedance converter (NIC)‐based active loads are discussed from a theoretical perspective. The stability problem associated with NIC circuits embedded in artificial magnetic conductor (AMC) and AMC absorber applications is studied using pole‐zero analysis.

Dual-band Artificial Magnetic Conductor
Applied Physics A, 2012A dual-band Artificial Magnetic Conductor (AMC) is presented in this paper. The proposed metasurface is based on a spiral geometry in which an additional resonance has been introduced thanks to a physical understanding of the structure’s behavior. The design is compact and the two frequency bands can be adjusted independently.

On the bending effects on artificial magnetic conductors
Microwave and Optical Technology Letters, 2012AbstractIn this letter, we present the performance of a typical artificial magnetic conductor (AMC) under different bending extents. Square patch array‐based AMC is employed as a benchmark to demonstrate the dependence of AMC characteristics on the degree of curvature. We show that increasing the extent of bending leads to a shift to a higher resonance

Characteristic Estimation of Artificial Magnetic Conductors
Electromagnetics, 2010Abstract This article proposes a model for estimating the phase of reflection coefficient and the resonant frequency of artificial magnetic conductor structures, which are composed of an array of frequency selective surface elements at the interface of a grounded dielectric slab.

Circuit Model of a Double-Layer Artificial Magnetic Conductor
IEEE Antennas and Wireless Propagation Letters, 2016This letter presents a circuit model to design a double-layer square artificial magnetic conductor (AMC) with a small period relative to the wavelength in the UHF band. The miniaturization is achieved thanks to a square patch array printed alternatively on each side of a thin dielectric substrate. These closely spaced arrays cause a high grid impedance

Miniaturized bendable 400 MHz artificial magnetic conductor
Applied Physics A, 2016A bendable artificial magnetic conductor (AMC) with a resonant frequency of 400 MHz is proposed. The dimensions of the unit cell are 50 × 50 mm2 or 0.07 × 0.07 λ0. The miniaturization is achieved with closely coupled patches printed on each side of a 0.127-mm-thick dielectric substrate.

Ultra-wideband antenna with tunable Artificial Magnetic Conductor
2014 International Symposium on Antennas and Propagation Conference Proceedings, 2014This paper presents a tunable Artificial Magnetic Conductor (AMC) unit cell design by means of four copper strips. With the inclusion of copper strips, the initial reflection phase of dual band AMC changes from 2.45 GHz and 5.8 GHz to single frequency of 3 GHz.

All-band GNSS antenna with artificial magnetic conductor
2017 Progress In Electromagnetics Research Symposium - Spring (PIERS), 2017With the introduction of multiple GNSS service providers, antennas that cover all GNSS bands become especially important. All-band GNSS antenna must cover 1146 MHz-1610 MHz band, have high front to back ratio, and good axial ratio with large beamwidth for better satellite coverage.

Novel uniplanar flexible Artificial Magnetic Conductor
Applied Physics A, 2012A novel flexible uniplanar Artificial Magnetic Conductor (AMC) design is presented. A prototype is manufactured and characterized under flat and bent conditions in an anechoic chamber. The designed prototype shows broad AMC operation bandwidth, polarization angle independency, and high angular stability margin when operating under oblique incidence.
