An integrative approach to silvopastoral system design: perspectives, potentials and principles

open access: yesNew Zealand Journal of Agricultural Research, Volume 68, Issue 2, Page 218-258, April 2025.
ABSTRACT Silvopastoral systems have complex impacts on a diverse range of outcomes, making it essential to design these systems using an integrative approach to maximise positive impacts to farms. This paper comprises firstly a systematic review of global silvopastoral processes, and secondly stakeholder‐driven synthesis of key opportunities and ...

Desidratação osmótica de frutículos de jaca (Artocarpus integrifolia L.): aplicação de modelos matemáticos = Osmotic dehydration of jackfruit (Artocarpus integrifolia L.): application of mathematical models

open access: yesActa Scientiarum: Technology, 2009
A desidratação osmótica tem sido sugerida como uma operação unitáriaimportante, na transformação de frutos perecíveis em novos produtos com maior vida de prateleira e maior valor agregado.

KINETIC DRYING EXPERIMENTAL DATA AND MATHEMATICAL MODEL FOR JACKFRUIT (Artocarpus integrifolia) SLICES DATOS EXPERIMENTALES Y MODELO MATEMÁTICO DE LA CINÉTICA DE SECADO DE RODAJAS DE JACA (Artocarpus integrifolia) [PDF]

open access: yesCiencia y Tecnologia Alimentaria, 2006
Abstract Resumen Jackfruit drying curves were obtained using a convective vertical tray drier at dry bulb temperatures of 50, 60 and 70°C requiring of 9.92, 6.1 and 4.75 h, respectively, to reach a dry basis moisture content of 21.3 %. The Fick diffusion and the PAGE models were fitted to the experimental data of drying velocity using non-linear ...

A Perennial Green Revolution to address 21st‐century food insecurity and malnutrition

open access: yesFood and Energy Security, Volume 13, Issue 4, July/August 2024.
Abstract Farming practices of the past century have dramatically increased annual crop yields to unprecedented levels but have consequentially created increasing ecological and public health concerns, posing a long‐term threat to global food security. Soil tillage and chemical inputs perpetuate soil erosion, biodiversity loss, wetlands eutrophication ...

Carbohydrate binding specificity of the B-cell maturation mitogen from Artocarpus integrifolia seeds.

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 1994
Artocarpin, a mannose-specific lectin, is a homotetrameric protein (M(r) 65,000) devoid of covalently attached carbohydrates and consists of four isolectins with pI in the range 5-6.5. Investigations of its carbohydrate binding specificity reveal that among monosaccharides, mannose is preferred over glucose.

Complexity and modification of the bull sperm glycocalyx during epididymal maturation

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, Volume 38, Issue 10, 31 May 2024.
Modification of the bull sperm glycocalyx during epididymal maturation. Abstract Mammalian spermatozoa have a surface covered with glycocalyx, consisting of heterogeneous glycoproteins and glycolipids. This complexity arises from diverse monosaccharides, distinct linkages, various isomeric glycans, branching levels, and saccharide sequences.

Commodity risk assessment of Petunia spp. and Calibrachoa spp. unrooted cuttings from Kenya

open access: yesEFSA Journal, Volume 22, Issue 4, April 2024.
Abstract The European Commission requested the EFSA Panel on Plant Health to evaluate the probability of entry of pests (likelihood of pest freedom at entry), including both regulated and non‐regulated pests, associated with unrooted cuttings of the genera Petunia and Calibrachoa produced under physical isolation in Kenya. The relevance of any pest for
