Development of cytosine and adenine base editors for maize precision breeding

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Plant Biology, Volume 67, Issue 10, Page 2731-2743, October 2025.
A series of maize cytosine and adenine base editors was developed using various deaminase variants, enabling efficient multiplex genome editing in maize. Precise editing of the ZmACC1/2 genes generated herbicide‐tolerant maize germplasm, offering a solution for weed management in maize‐soybean intercropping systems.

Metcamifen safeguards fluazifop for the gradual conversion of hybrid bermudagrass fairways to manilagrass

open access: yesAgronomy Journal, Volume 117, Issue 5, September/October 2025.
Abstract Golf courses throughout the southern United States have begun converting fairways from hybrid bermudagrass (Cynodon dactylon × C. transvaalensis Burtt‐Davy) to manilagrass [Zoysia matrella (L.) Merr.]. Recognition (trifloxysulfuron + metcamifen) can be tank‐mixed with fluazifop to gradually remove hybrid bermudagrass during conversion ...

Scientific Opinion on an application by DOW AgroSciences LLC (EFSA‐GMO‐NL‐2010‐89) for placing on the market the genetically modified herbicide‐tolerant maize DAS‐40278‐9 for food and feed uses, import and processing under Regulation (EC) No 1829/2003

open access: yesEFSA Journal, 2016
Maize DAS‐40278‐9 was developed by direct Whiskers‐mediated transformation to express the aryloxyalkanoate dioxygenase‐1 (AAD‐1) protein, conferring tolerance to 2,4‐dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4‐D) and aryloxyphenoxypropionate (AOPP) herbicides.

A dual tank precision sprayer to evaluate the interaction of 2,4‐D choline and quizalofop‐p‐ethyl for control of volunteer corn in corn

open access: yesAgricultural &Environmental Letters, Volume 10, Issue 1, June 2025.
Abstract Quizalofop‐p‐ethyl (QPE) can control glufosinate/glyphosate‐resistant corn (Zea mays L.) volunteers in corn resistant to aryloxyphenoxypropionates (Enlist corn). Mixing QPE with broadleaf herbicides such as 2,4‐D choline can be antagonistic. A new precision sprayer with a dual tank/boom system can apply two herbicides simultaneously through ...

Evaluation of Factors that Contribute to Injury to Quizalofop-Resistant Rice from Quizalofop Applied Postemergence [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
Quizalofop-resistant rice technology allows for over-the-top applications of quizalofop, an acetyl-coenzyme A carboxylase-inhibiting herbicide. However, quizalofop caused significant injury to quizalofop-resistant rice in some Arkansas fields during the ...

Registration of Tx3499–Tx3503 sorghum germplasm resistant to acetyl‐coenzyme A carboxylase‐inhibiting herbicides

open access: yesJournal of Plant Registrations, Volume 19, Issue 1, January/April 2025.
Abstract The sorghum [Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench ssp. bicolor] germplasm lines Tx3499–Tx3503 (Reg. no. GP‐948–Reg. no. GP‐952, PI 706257–PI 706261) were developed by the Texas A&M AgriLife Research sorghum breeding program in 2024. These lines are resistant to acetyl‐coenzyme A carboxylase (ACCase)‐inhibiting herbicides used for post‐emergence control
