Ascus Cytology of Podospora anserina [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of General Microbiology, 1968
SUMMARY: The ascus cytology of Podospora anserina (Ces.) Rehm, a secondarily homothallic Pyrenomycete fungus, has been followed under the light microscope from the crozier, through karyogamy and the three nuclear divisions in the ascus (the first two constituting a meiosis and the third a mitosis) to the first spore mitosis and spore maturation.

BestCyte® primary screening of 500 ThinPrep Pap Test thin-layers: 3 Cytologists’ Interobserver diagnostic concordance with predicate manual microscopy relative to Truth Reference diagnoses defining NILM, ASCUS+, LSIL+, and ASCH+ thresholds for specificity, sensitivity, and equivalency grading

open access: yesJournal of Pathology Informatics, 2023
Background: The BestCyte® Cell Sorter Imaging System (BestCyte) facilitates algorithmic discrimination of clinically relevant cells in Pap test cytopathology by classifying and projecting images of cells in galleries based on cytomorphology. Warranted is

Prevention of cervical cancer in women with ASCUS in the Brazilian Unified National Health System: cost-effectiveness of the molecular biology method for HPV detection Prevenção de câncer de colo uterino em pacientes com ASCUS no Sistema Único de Saúde: custo-efetividade de método de biologia molecular para HPV

open access: yesCadernos de Saúde Pública, 2012
This study aimed to assess the performance of PCR as a means of detecting HPV 16/18 compared to the single probe-based PCR for detecting high-risk HPV, and evaluate these methods for detecting cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN) in follow-ups for ...

Qualification of ASCUS [PDF]

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Clinical Pathology, 2001
Cytologic detection of high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions (HSILs) is critical to cervical cancer prevention. Therefore, identifying "equivocal HSIL" (ASCUS [atypical squamous cells of undetermined significance]-H) may be useful. Accordingly, we compared findings associated with "equivocal low-grade SIL" (ASCUS-L), ASCUS-H, and HSIL using data ...

"ATYPICAL SQUAMOUS CELLS OF UNDETERMINED SIGNIFICANCE: A CYTOHISTOLOGIC STUDY" [PDF]

open access: yesActa Medica Iranica, 2004
Although the diagnostic category of atypical squamous cells of undetermined significance (ASCUS) has been known since 1988, its use and appropriate clinical follow up and management still remains controversial.

Can biopsies be omitted after normal colposcopy in women referred with low-grade cervical cytology? A prospective cohort study

open access: yesBMC Women's Health, 2021
Background Controversy surrounds whether women with low-risk cytology screening results but a normal colposcopic assessment should have random biopsies taken. The aim of this study was to determine the yield of CIN2+ from one to four cervical biopsies in
