Mixed‐Metal Promotion in a Manganese‐Molybdenum Oxynitride as Catalyst to Integrate C─C and C─N Coupling Reactions for the Direct Synthesis of Acetonitrile from Syngas and Ammonia

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Transition metal oxy/carbo‐nitrides show great promise as catalysts for sustainable processes. A Mn‐Mo mixed‐metal oxynitride attains remarkable performance for the direct synthesis of acetonitrile, an important commodity chemical, via sequential C─N and C─C coupling from syngas (C1) and ammonia (N1) feedstocks.

TreeSpider: In‐Canopy Exploration With Tether‐Based Aerial Modular Arms

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
A tethered drone with perching arms and a 360° ring enables unprecedented maneuverability within dense forest canopies. By dynamically adjusting tether length and decoupling pitch from the frame, it navigates between branches, senses multiple trees, and interacts physically with foliage.

Study on the role of the sylvatic cycle of African swine fever in Senegal [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
It is generally believed that African swine fever (ASF) virus in Sub-Saharan Africa is maintained in nature by warthogs (Phacochoerus africanus) and soft ticks from the genus Ornithodoros (Penrith et al., 2004).

2023–2027 CAP First Pillar Reform and Livestock Sector: Production and Economic Impacts on Italian Specialized Dairy Cattle Farms

open access: yesApplied Economic Perspectives and Policy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The present study uses an agroeconomic supply model to assess the impacts of 2023–2027 CAP on Italian specialized dairy cattle farms. The model considers the voluntary choice of Eco‐Scheme 1, specifically addressed to livestock farms, through the implementation of binary variables.

Contextual Modulation is Related to Efficiency in a Spiking Network Model of Visual Cortex [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
In the visual cortex, stimuli outside the classical receptive field (CRF) modulate the neural firing rate, without driving the neuron by themselves. In the primary visual cortex (V1), such contextual modulation can be parametrized with an area summation ...

The African swine fever control zone in South Africa and its current relevance

open access: yesOnderstepoort Journal of Veterinary Research, 2016
African swine fever (ASF) has been reported in South Africa since the early 20th century. The disease has been controlled and confined to northern South Africa over the past 80 years by means of a well-defined boundary line, with strict control measures ...
