Family Asparagaceae Juss. Sansevieria currently encompasses three subgenera, i.e., subgen. Capitulatus Mbugua ex L.E.Newton & R.H.Webb (14 spp.), subgen. Paniculatus Mbugua ex L.E.Newton & R.H.Webb (13 spp.), and subgen. Sansevieria (75 spp.). The classification is based on inflorescence architecture.
