The Rise of Stemphylium vesicarium: A Growing Threat to Pear Production in Europe

Brown spot of pear, caused by the fungus Stemphylium vesicarium, was reported in Italy in 1975 and only recently, due to climate change and pesticide restrictions, it became a major threat for European pear production. New knowledge on this pathogen can allow the advent of new and effective control strategies.
