Verbal predication negation in Dawurotsuwa

open access: yesCogent Arts & Humanities
This paper presents an analysis of the verbal negation of declarative main clauses in Dawurotsuwa. This study aims to describe verbal negation in Dawurotsuwa, a language that is scarcely described.

Surface Roughness and Land Use in Slovenia

open access: yesActa Geographica Slovenica, 2004
The article describes characteristics of several relief indicators (surface height, surface slope, surface aspect, height coefficient of surface roughness, slope coefficient of surface roughness, and aspect coefficient of surface roughness) relative to ...

DNA methylation and expression of MAPRE3 affect overall survival of early‐stage non‐small cell lung cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Both cg12821679MAPRE3 methylation and MAPRE3 expression are significantly associated with overall survival (OS) of non‐small cell lung cancer. Meanwhile, MAPRE3 expression significantly modified the effect of smoking cessation on OS. Smoking cessation benefits OS merely for patients with high MAPRE3 expression.

Topological aspect of graphene physics

open access: yes, 2010
Topological aspects of graphene are reviewed focusing on the massless Dirac fermions with/without magnetic field. Doubled Dirac cones of graphene are topologically protected by the chiral symmetry.

Mycobacterial cell division arrest and smooth‐to‐rough envelope transition using CRISPRi‐mediated genetic repression systems

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
CRISPRI‐mediated gene silencing and phenotypic exploration in nontuberculous mycobacteria. In this Research Protocol, we describe approaches to control, monitor, and quantitatively assess CRISPRI‐mediated gene silencing in M. smegmatis and M. abscessus model organisms.

dUTPase is essential in zebrafish development and possesses several single‐nucleotide variants with pronounced structural and functional consequences

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
dUTPases are involved in balancing the appropriate nucleotide pools. We showed that dUTPase is essential for normal development in zebrafish. The different zebrafish genomes contain several single‐nucleotide variations (SNPs) of the dut gene. One of the dUTPase variants displayed drastically lower protein stability and catalytic efficiency as compared ...

Performativity, progressive avoidance and aspect [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Unlike other reports of ongoing actions, English explicit performatives do not normally take progressive form. This suggests that “there is something over and above a mere concurrent report” in utterances like I bet you I’ll win the race that is absent ...

Observers can always generate nonlocal correlations without aligning measurements by covering all their bases

open access: yes, 2012
Quantum theory allows for correlations between the outcomes of distant measurements that are inconsistent with any locally causal theory, as demonstrated by the violation of a Bell inequality.

Multi‐omics and low‐input proteomics profiling reveals dynamic regulation driving pluripotency initiation in early mouse embryos

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Mouse pre‐implantation development involves a transition from totipotency to pluripotency. Integrating transcriptomics, epigenetic profiling, low‐input proteomics and functional assays, we show that eight‐cell embryos retain residual totipotency features, whereas cytoskeletal remodeling regulated by the ubiquitin‐proteasome system drives progression ...

An atomic Hong-Ou-Mandel experiment

open access: yes, 2015
The celebrated Hong, Ou and Mandel (HOM) effect is one of the simplest illustrations of two-particle interference, and is unique to the quantum realm.
