Whole-Genome Sequencing of Aspergillus terreus Species Complex
Aspergillus terreus species complex is an opportunistic fungal pathogen increasingly implicated in invasive infection, as well as chronic respiratory disease. Currently, an understanding of A. terreus pathogenicity is impeded by a limited number of whole-genome sequences of this fungal pathogen.

Lovastatin Production by Aspergillus terreus (KM017963) in Submerged and Solid State Fermentation: A Comparative Study [PDF]
Lovastatin (C24H36O5) is a fungal secondary metabolite that inhibits conversion of 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl coenzyme A (HMG CoA) to mevalonate in cholesterol biosynthesis.

Molecular methods for the identification of Aspergillus species [PDF]
Invasive aspergillosis (IA) is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality in immunocompromised hosts. In some institutions, species of Aspergillus less susceptible to amphotericin B than Aspergillus fumigatus are becoming more common, making an accurate ...

New Sesquiterpenes from Aspergillus terreus Thom
Four neutral sesquiterpenes were isolated from the culture filtrate of of Aspergillus terreus THOM No. 14 which produces two sesquiterpene antibiotics, terrecyclic acid A and terrecyclol. On the basis of spectroscopic data the structures of four neutral sesquiterpenes were elucidated.

Solid State Fermentation: An Effective Method for Lovastatin Production by Fungi over Submerged Fermentation [PDF]
The Enzyme 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-CoA reductase (HMG CoA reductase) catalyses conversion of HMG CoA to mevalonate during cholesterol biosynthesis. Lovastatin is used as an anti-cholesterol drug which blocks HMG CoA reductase activity.

Inhibitory effect of sodium metabisulphite and chlorine on growth of Aspergillus spp. and Penicillium spp. strains isolated from marine shrimp [PDF]
The sodium metabisulphite (SMB) is used in shrimp farming to prevent melanosis and the 5.0 ppm chlorine (CL) concentration used in the shrimp processing is effi cient as a bactericide, but there is no evidence of the effectiveness of these chemical ...

Evolution of asexual and sexual reproduction in the aspergilli [PDF]
Aspergillus nidulans has long-been used as a model organism to gain insights into the genetic basis of asexual and sexual developmental processes both in other members of the genus Aspergillus, and filamentous fungi in general.
