Secondary Metabolites of Calonectria hemileiae Inhibit Hemileia vastatrix Urediniospore Germination: Evidence for Chemical Mediation in a Mycoparasitic Interaction

open access: yesPlant Pathology, Volume 75, Issue 4, July‐August 2026.
Calonectria hemileiae, an antagonist of the coffee leaf rust pathogen Hemileia vastatrix, produces low‐molecular weight secondary metabolites that inhibit urediniospore germination. These metabolites likely mediate interfungal interactions and show potential for the development of biofungicides against coffee leaf rust.

Aspergillus terreus accessory conidia are unique in surface architecture, cell wall composition and germination kinetics. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2009
Infection with Aspergillus terreus is more likely to result in invasive, disseminated disease when compared to other Aspergillus species; importantly this species appears to be less susceptible to the antifungal drug amphotericin B.

An Update on Invasive Fungal Infections in Solid Organ Transplant Recipients

open access: yesTransplant Infectious Disease, Volume 28, Issue 4, July/August 2026.
ABSTRACT Invasive fungal infections (IFI) remain a significant infection‐related complication in solid organ transplant recipients (SOTRs), the incidence of which has not changed overtime. With a focus on studies and data published after 2019, this narrative review provides an update on the epidemiology and prevention of IFIs in SOTRs and highlights ...

Exploring Diverse Glycone Preferences of Aspergillus rutinosidases

open access: yesAdvanced Synthesis &Catalysis, Volume 368, Issue 11, 3 June 2026.
Rutinosidases from Aspergillus niger (AnRut) and A. oryzae (AoRut) catalyze hydrolysis and transglycosylation with non‐natural glycosides as donors, enabling glycosylation of alcoholic and phenolic acceptors. AnRut exhibits broad glycone promiscuity, while AoRut has a narrower substrate scope.
