Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

The Interfacial-Organized Monolayer Water Hindering the Aggregation of Nanographene: Both in Stacking and Sliding Assembly Pathways

open access: yes, 2012
A computational investigation was carried out to understand the aggregation of nanoscale graphene with two typical assembly pathways of stacking assembly and sliding assembly in water.

Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve

Combining scripting and commercial simulation software to simulate in-plant logistics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
In this paper we describe the use of a commercial discrete event simulation package (Siemens 2008) combined with a custom program, written in the programming language Python (Martelli 2006). Combining these two makes it possible to automatically generate

Crucial parameters for precise copy number variation detection in formalin‐fixed paraffin‐embedded solid cancer samples

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that copy number variations (CNVs) can be reliably detected in formalin‐fixed paraffin‐embedded (FFPE) solid cancer samples using ultra‐low‐pass whole‐genome sequencing, provided that key (pre)‐analytical parameters are optimized.

Accuracy of the laminar boundary layer on a flat plate in an immersed boundary-lattice Boltzmann simulation

open access: yesJournal of Fluid Science and Technology, 2016
We investigate the accuracy of the laminar boundary layer on a flat plate in the simulation by an immersed boundary-lattice Boltzmann method (IB-LBM).

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Novel choledochojejunostomy technique “T‐shaped anastomosis” for preventing the development of postoperative cholangitis in pancreatoduodenectomy: A propensity score matching analysis

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery
Background There have been few studies of countermeasures against postoperative cholangitis, a serious complication after pancreaticoduodenectomy (PD) that impairs quality of life.

Colorectal cancer‐derived FGF19 is a metabolically active serum biomarker that exerts enteroendocrine effects on mouse liver

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Meta‐transcriptome analysis identified FGF19 as a peptide enteroendocrine hormone associated with colorectal cancer prognosis. In vivo xenograft models showed release of FGF19 into the blood at levels that correlated with tumor volumes. Tumoral‐FGF19 altered murine liver metabolism through FGFR4, thereby reducing bile acid synthesis and increasing ...
