Flexible automation for automotive body assembly

2008 IEEE International Conference on Automation Science and Engineering, 2008
The automotive industry is faced actually with the challenge to enable their car body assembly lines to produce a mix of several different car models on the same line. A new automation concept for highly flexible multi-body assembly lines is presented that even allows model change on the fly.

Neuronal assemblies of the Drosophila mushroom body

Journal of Comparative Neurology, 2008
AbstractThe mushroom body (MB) of the insect brain has important roles in odor learning and memory and in diverse other brain functions. To elucidate the anatomical basis underlying its function, we studied how the MB of Drosophila is organized by its intrinsic and extrinsic neurons.

Phosphorothioate Antisense Oligonucleotides Bind P-Body Proteins and Mediate P-Body Assembly

Nucleic Acid Therapeutics, 2019
Antisense oligonucleotides (ASOs) regulate gene expression by binding to complementary target RNA, and ASOs can be designed to take advantage of a growing array of post RNA binding molecular mechanisms. Intracellular trafficking of ASOs influences their efficacy.

Virtual Functional Build for Body Assembly

Manufacturing Engineering and Materials Handling, Parts A and B, 2005
Functional build (FB) is a critical process in launching a vehicle, whereby individual prototype parts are stamped and then sent to a central location to be assembled into a prototype vehicle body. FB is premised on the realization that from a functional viewpoint the relationship between parts is important, not the relationship of the parts to their ...

Automated sequencing and sub-assembly detection in automobile body assembly planning

Journal of Materials Processing Technology, 2002
Abstract This paper describes a procedure to automatically derive all the feasible assembly sequences for automobile body assembly. This procedure is based on a mathematical model of the automobile body, obtained through the definitions of the connection matrix and the contracted matrix.

Computational Design of Body‐Supporting Assemblies

Computer Graphics Forum
AbstractA body‐supporting assembly is an assembly of parts that physically supports a human body during activities like sitting, lying, or leaning. A body‐supporting assembly has a complex global shape to support a specific human body posture, yet each component part has a relatively simple geometry to facilitate fabrication, storage, and maintenance ...

Micromechanical Assemblies and the Human Body

Architectural Design, 2017
Body architecture can prevent the need for surgery. Such is the case with braces worn to correct spinal deformity; but their cumbersome design often puts patients off. This led a major orthopaedic products manufacturer to invite New York design practice Studio Bitonti to collaborate. Studio founder Francis Bitonti describes how they used algorithms and

Knowledge-based vehicle body conceptual assembly design

Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part D: Journal of Automobile Engineering, 2008
The paper discusses the architecture of a knowledge-based vehicle body conceptual assembly design system. The proposed system addresses problems when applying knowledge-based techniques to vehicle body design at the conceptual design stage and later stages.

Cleaning and Phosphating of Assembled Bodies

SAE Technical Paper Series, 1963
<div class="htmlview paragraph">Materials, methods, and equipment used in coping with cleaning and processing problems common to the chemical surface treatment of automobile bodies are discussed. New information is presented in connection with the essential and important, but too often neglected, final acidified rinse of the processing cycle. The

Body Join Drilling for One-Up-Assembly

SAE International Journal of Aerospace, 2013
<div class="section abstract"><div class="htmlview paragraph">Over 1,200 large diameter holes must be drilled into the side-of-body join on a Boeing commercial aircraft's fuselage. The material stack-ups are multiple layers of primarily titanium and CFRP.
