Monetary asset quality and substitutability
Journal of Economics and Business, 1993Abstract This paper utilizes a user-cost-dependent direct utility function to estimate elasticities of substitution (ES) between monetary assets. Unlike other ES studies, the generalized Fechner-Thurstone (GFT) utility function employed incorporates changes in monetary asset quality. The ES results show low substitutability between assets.

I study an adverse selection economy, where investors’ effort choice endogenously determines asset quality distribution. In booms, knowing that investors can easily sell assets, they exert less effort to improve the quality of their investment projects.

Asset Data Quality—A Case Study on Mobile Mining Assets
2014Good asset management decisions involve balancing cost, risk and performance requirements. Raw data on maintenance costs (a major contributor to total costs) and for estimating risks associated with asset failure is stored in an organisation’s Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. However as this chapter demonstrates asset data is often erroneous,

Asset quality and scale economies in banking
Journal of Economics and Business, 1996Abstract Asset quality is shown to affect both the level of bank costs and estimates of scale economies in banking. Cost functions estimated with banks which have low/high non-performing loan ratios differ from cost curves estimated over the entire sample. The empirical results confirm that an increase in non-performing loans increases costs.

Why do companies waste so much effort on bad information, when the principles for managing it well are not hard? Promoting the good practice asset management of asset information,
