Robot-assisted choledochotomy: feasibility
Surgical Endoscopy, 2004Because clearing stones from the common bile duct is demanding with conventional laparoscopic techniques, the "da Vinci" robotic system can be of additional value in inserting a kehr drain and suturing the common bile duct. As far as we could ascertain, we report the first case of a laparoscopic choledochotomy with the assistance of this robotic system.

Robot-assisted microscope for neurosurgery
Journal of Image Guided Surgery, 1995We describe the implementation of a robotic arm connected to a neurosurgical operative microscope. A force feedback sensor drives the motors of the arm in response to the positioning of the microscope by the surgeon. Computer graphic techniques allow tracking of the current position of the microscope within the volumetric reconstruction of the brain ...

Affective Robot for Elderly Assistance
2009Recently, several robotic solutions for the elderly have been proposed. However, to date, the diffusion of these devices has been limited: available robots are too cumbersome, awkward, and expensive to become widely adopted. Another key issue which reduces the appeal of assistive robots is the lack of socio-emotional interaction: affective interchanges

Assistive robotics: An overview
1998Intelligent robotics is the study of how to make machines that can exhibit many of the qualities of people. This seems a very appropriate technology to use to assist those people who have lost certain abilities that are common to the majority of the population.
