Bridging data gaps: Evidence‐based population assessment for an endemic amphibian of conservation concern

open access: yesThe Journal of Wildlife Management, EarlyView.
Plethodon welleri exhibits strong seasonal shifts in elevational activity with abundance and occupancy being linked to terrain characteristics. Despite historical habitat assumptions, P. welleri occurs in a broad range of forest types across a larger elevation gradient. Photo Credit to Maxwell Ramey.

Plant regeneration from mesophyll protoplasts of Agrobacterium rhizogenes-transformed Astragalus melilotoides

open access: yesBiologia plantarum, 2008
Plant regeneration from mesophyll protoplasts of Agrobacterium rhizogenes-transformed Astragalus melilotoides Pall. was here developed. The protoplasts were isolated directly from the leaves of the hairy root-induced plants. The highest yield of protoplasts was obtained from fully expanded leaves of young plants.

Impacts of continuous cropping on the rhizospheric and endospheric microbial communities and root exudates of Astragalus mongholicus

open access: yesBMC Plant Biology
Astragalus mongholicus is a medicinal plant that is known to decrease in quality in response to continuous cropping. However, the differences in the root-associated microbiome and root exudates in the rhizosphere soil that may lead to these decreases are

Kinematic alignment, but not mechanical alignment, preserves the knee–ankle relationship after total knee arthroplasty: A retrospective radiographic analysis from the FP‐UCBM Knee Study Group

open access: yesKnee Surgery, Sports Traumatology, Arthroscopy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Purpose Several alignment strategies have been proposed in total knee arthroplasty (TKA), with the two extremes being mechanical alignment (MA) and unrestricted kinematic alignment (KA). While MA standardises coronal knee parameters to achieve a neutral alignment, KA reproduces each patient's native joint lines.

Exploring the importance of sulfate transporters and ATP sulphurylases for selenium hyperaccumulation\u2014a comparison of Stanleya pinnata and Brassica juncea (Brassicaceae) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Selenium (Se) hyperaccumulation, the capacity of some species to concentrate Se to levels upwards of 0.1% of dry weight, is an intriguing phenomenon that is only partially understood.

Mechanical axis correction after total knee arthroplasty alters ankle alignment but does not affect ankle function

open access: yesKnee Surgery, Sports Traumatology, Arthroscopy, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose Total knee arthroplasty (TKA) restores knee function, but correction of coronal plane deformities may alter the biomechanics of adjacent joints. This study aimed to determine whether changes in knee alignment after TKA have clinical or radiological effects on the ankle.
