Role for the liver X receptor agonist 22‐ketositosterol in preventing disease progression in an Alzheimer's disease mouse model

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Background and Purpose Liver X receptors (LXRs) are promising therapeutic targets for alleviating Alzheimer's disease (AD) symptoms. We assessed the impact of the semi‐synthetic LXR agonist 22‐ketositosterol on disease progression in an AD mouse model.

Real‐World Data Analysis of Genomic Alterations Detected by a Dual DNA–RNA Comprehensive Genomic Profiling Test

open access: yesCancer Science, EarlyView.
This study analyzed 1356 cases using GenMineTOP, Japan's first dual DNA–RNA CGP test, and identified oncogenic alterations in 91.5% of cases. The RNA panel detected 105 fusion events, including 11 NTRK fusions. Furthermore, the analysis clarified the independent effects of genomic abnormalities and cancer type on RNA expression, providing valuable ...

Mammalian TatD DNase domain containing 1 (TATDN1) is a proteostasis‐responsive gene with roles in ventricular structure and neuromuscular function

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
Twin‐arginine translocation D (TatD) homologs are found across all kingdoms, with debated roles in DNA degradation and protein quality control in unicellular organisms. We characterize TATDN1, the mammalian TatD orthologue, as a proteostatic stress‐responsive cytosolic protein dispensable for DNA degradation.

BATseg: Boundary-aware Multiclass Spinal Cord Tumor Segmentation on 3D MRI Scans [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Spinal cord tumors significantly contribute to neurological morbidity and mortality. Precise morphometric quantification, encompassing the size, location, and type of such tumors, holds promise for optimizing treatment planning strategies. Although recent methods have demonstrated excellent performance in medical image segmentation, they primarily ...

Dreaming in patients with epilepsy: a cross‐sectional cohort study

open access: yesJournal of Sleep Research, EarlyView.
Dream recall frequency in patients with epilepsy is modulated by determinants shared with healthy subjects (age, nocturnal awakenings, role of the parieto‐occipital region) and by epilepsy‐related factors (seizure frequency, epileptic focus location).

Quantum-Enhanced Classification of Brain Tumors Using DNA Microarray Gene Expression Profiles [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
DNA microarray technology enables the simultaneous measurement of expression levels of thousands of genes, thereby facilitating the understanding of the molecular mechanisms underlying complex diseases such as brain tumors and the identification of diagnostic genetic signatures.
