Shapeshifting Nanocatalyst for CO2 Conversion

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A multi‐modal in situ characterization of Ag‐Cu nanoparticles during CO2 photoreduction sheds light on dynamic transformations occurring during reaction. The Cu(core)‐Ag(shell) nanoparticles present the Ag replacement by Cu atoms. Ag is trapped at the subsurface forming a Ag‐Cu‐O phase, and the nanoparticle spreads over the substrate.

Are Two of the Neptune Trojans Dynamically Unstable? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The Neptune Trojans are the most recently discovered population of small bodies in the Solar System. To date, only eight have been discovered, though it is thought likely that the total population at least rivals that of the asteroid belt.

Spatially Encoded Polaritonic Ultra‐Strong Coupling in Gradient Metasurfaces with Epsilon‐Near‐Zero Modes

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Dielectric dual gradient metasurfaces supporting quasi‐bound‐states‐in‐the‐continuum are leveraged to spatially encode both the spectral and coupling parameter space and demonstrate ultra‐strong coupling to an epsilon‐near‐zero mode in an ultra‐thin SiO2 layer. The platform achieves exceptional mode overlap, reaching a normalized coupling strength of η =

N-body/SPH study of the evolution of dwarf galaxies in a cluster environment [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Using an N-body/SPH code, we explore the scenario in which a dwarf elliptical galaxy (dE) is subjected to ram-pressure stripping due to the intracluster medium (ICM). Our simulations show that while (i) smaller dEs lose their ISM almost immediately after

Observation of Topological Chirality Switching Induced Freezing of a Skyrmion Crystal

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Using Lorentz Transmission electron microscopy, it is shown that in the insulating van der Waals ferromagnet, CrBr3, a magnetic field can cause Bloch skyrmionic bubbles to spontaneously switch their chirality. As achiral type‐II bubbles are an intermediate state, the bubbles rapidly elongate and shrink when switching, thereby inducing a freezing of the

Inverse Spillover and Dimensionality Effects on Interstitial Hydrogen

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Interstitial hydrogen behaves distinctly at interfaces compared to the bulk. Vanadium films show proximity‐dependent hydrogen depletion near interfaces–an inverse of hydrogen spillover. Ion beam and resistivity measurements reveal Fe/V‐superlattices have lower hydrogen solubility and higher critical temperature than Cr/V due to proximity‐induced finite

Magnetically Arrested Circumbinary Accretion Flows

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Letters
Binary systems with comparable masses and a surrounding accretion disk can accrete gas through spiral accretion streams penetrating the central cavity formed by tidal interactions.
