Dripping from a faucet is studied, where by cutting diagonally the tip breaks the cylindrical symmetry. We measured long dripping time series recorded with a laser-beam apparatus and continuous change in drop position using a high-speed camera. It is found that the added degree of freedom produces a transversal oscillation of a pending drop, which ...

Synthesis of Atropisomers by Transition-Metal-Catalyzed Asymmetric C-H Functionalization Reactions.
Journal of the American Chemical Society, 2021Transition-metal-catalyzed enantioselective C-H functionalization has become a powerful strategy for the formation of C-C or C-X bonds, enabling the highly asymmetric synthesis of a wide range of enantioenriched compounds.

The direct addition of amine N-H bonds across an unsaturated carbon-carbon linkage gives fast and highly atom-economical access to amines. This review provides an overview of the most effective stereoselective methods using various catalyst systems based on alkali, alkaline earth, and transition metals, as well as enzymatic and organocatalytic ...

We use a laboratory experiment to investigate the behavioral effects of obligations that are not backed by binding deterrent incentives. To implement such expressive law' we introduce different levels of very weakly incentivized, symmetric and asymmetric minimum contribution levels (obligations) in a repeated public goods experiment.

EEG-based emotion recognition using an end-to-end regional-asymmetric convolutional neural network
Knowledge-Based Systems, 2020Emotion recognition based on electroencephalography (EEG) is of great important in the field of Human–Computer Interaction (HCI), which has received extensive attention in recent years. Most traditional methods focus on extracting features in time domain

While nonracemic catalysts can generate nonracemic products with or without the nonlinear relationship in enantiomeric excesses between catalysts and products, racemic catalysts inherently give only a racemic mixture of chiral products. Asymmetric catalysts, either in nonracemic or racemic form, can be further evolved into highly activated catalysts ...

Iridium-Catalyzed Asymmetric Allylic Substitution Reactions.
Chemical Reviews, 2018In this review, we summarize the origin and advancements of iridium-catalyzed asymmetric allylic substitution reactions during the past two decades. Since the first report in 1997, Ir-catalyzed asymmetric allylic substitution reactions have attracted ...
