Asymmetric Exchanges

open access: yes, 2018
We emphasize the asymmetric character of exchanges between artists and scientists or mathematicians in the framework of multidisciplinary collaborations. As an example, we look at the perception of asymmetry in an artwork presented at the First European Asymmetry Symposium (FEAS), Nice, 15-16 March 2018, and its potential connection with the unsolved ...

Asymmetric Information And Overeducation [PDF]

open access: yesThe B.E. Journal of Economic Analysis & Policy, 2012
Abstract We consider an economy where production may use labor of two different skill levels. Workers are heterogeneous and, by investing in education, self-select into one of the two skills. Ex-ante, when firms choose their investments in physical capital, they do not know the level of human capital prevailing in the labor market they ...

Synthesis and spectral characterization of 1,2-bis(5-methyl/chloro-1H-benzimidazol-2-yl)ethanols and their Co(II), Pd(II) and Zn(II) complexes [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Serbian Chemical Society, 2018
1,2-Bis(5-methyl/chloro-1H-benzimidazol-2-yl)ethanols (1 and 2), asymmetric bis-benzimidazoles, and their complexes with CoCl2, PdCl2 and ZnCl2 were synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, molar conductivity, magnetic moment, TGA, FT-IR (mid-

The exchange rate, asymmetric shocks and asymmetric distributions [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Economics, 2018
Abstract The elasticity of exports to exchange rate fluctuations has been the subject of a large body of literature without a clear consensus emerging. Using a novel sector-level dataset based on firm level information, we show that exchange rate elasticities double in size when country and sector specific firm productivity distributions are ...

Dynamic Network Connectedness of Bitcoin Markets: Evidence from Realized Volatility

open access: yesFrontiers in Physics, 2020
In this paper, we explore the volatility spillovers across different Bitcoin markets. We decompose the realized volatility into common and idiosyncratic volatilities, as well as the good and bad volatilities.

Asymmetric Squares as Standing Waves in Rayleigh-Benard Convection

open access: yes, 2000
Possibility of asymmetric square convection is investigated numerically using a few mode Lorenz-like model for thermal convection in Boussinesq fluids confined between two stress free and conducting flat boundaries. For relatively large value of Rayleigh

Asymmetric Distributed Trust [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Quorum systems are a key abstraction in distributed fault-tolerant computing for capturing trust assumptions. They can be found at the core of many algorithms for implementing reliable broadcasts, shared memory, consensus and other problems.

Asymmetric Vertical Integration [PDF]

open access: yesThe B.E. Journal of Theoretical Economics, 2005
We examine vertical backward integration in a reduced-form model of successive oligopolies. Our key findings are: (i) There may be asymmetric equilibria where some firms integrate and others remain separated, even if firms are symmetric initially; (ii) Efficient firms are more likely to integrate vertically.
