A Dual‐Functional Electrolyte Additive for Highly Reversible Zinc‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces tetrabutylammonium bromide (TBAB) as a dual‐function additive for aqueous zinc‐ion batteries. TBAB disrupts the hydrogen‐bond network of water while TBA+ adsorbs on Zn to improve interfacial wettability and regulate Zn2+ flux, resulting in suppressed dendrite growth and parasitic reactions. This synergy extended the lifespan of Zn|

Powering Nanocrystal‐Based Heat Engines With Light‐Emitting Metasurfaces That Influence Their Temperature

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Metasurfaces and other structured photonic environments can dramatically modify the absorption and/or light emission of semiconductors. However, the consequences of these changes on the temperature of the system are not well understood. The authors address this problem for colloidal nanocrystals and leverage their findings to convert light into ...

Toward Fast Proton Shuttling in Acidic Oxygen Evolution Reaction

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This review establishes proton transfer dynamics as a descriptor governing acidic OER activity, moving beyond the kinetic constraints derived from the proton coupled electron transfer. We discuss how deprotonation governs classical mechanisms, including adsorbate evolution mechanism (AEM), lattice oxygen mechanism (LOM) and oxide path mechanism (OPM ...

Fault-Tolerant Performance Analysis of a Modified Neutral-Point-Clamped Asymmetric Half-Bridge Converter for an In-Wheel Switched Reluctance Motor

open access: yesEng
Reliability is an essential factor for the operation of the Switched Reluctance Motor (SRM) drive. Electric vehicles operate in harsh environments, which may degrade the operation of power converters.

Controlled Engineering of 2D Alkali‐Iron‐Chloride Compounds and Lateral Quantum Heterostructures Within Confined Graphene Nanoreactors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work presents a programmable atomic engineering strategy for 2D materials using Å‐scale nanoreactors formed by bilayer graphene (BLG) intercalation. A new class of alkali‐iron‐chloride compounds, along with lateral heterostructures composed of monolayer alkali halides and iron chlorides, is revealed.

Modeling of grid-connected converter-based sources as equivalent impedances for symmetrical and asymmetrical short-circuit calculation

open access: yesRevista Principia - Divulgação Científica e Tecnológica do IFPB, 2020
The study of electrical systems under fault conditions provides fundamental information for proper system protection design and coordination. These studies are traditionally performed in the phasor domain and based on the physical behavior of the synchronous generators directly connected to the grid.

The Multi‐Functional Third Acceptor Realizes the Synergistic Improvement in Photovoltaic Parameters and the High‐Ratio Tolerance of Ternary Organic Photovoltaics

open access: yesAdvanced Science
The ternary strategy proves effective for breakthroughs in organic photovoltaics (OPVs). Elevating three photovoltaic parameters synergistically, especially the proportion‐insensitive third component, is crucial for efficient ternary devices.
