The Effect of UV Irradiation on the Z-Tetraol Boundary Lubricant
The UV irradiation of Z-Tetraol films on amorphous nitrogenated carbon surfaces was investigated. COF2 evolution, captured in the gas phase, decreased with increasing number of OH end groups in the order: Z > Zdol > Z-Tetraol after UV irradiation ...

Asymptotic Properties of Bayes Risk of a General Class of Shrinkage Priors in Multiple Hypothesis Testing Under Sparsity [PDF]
Consider the problem of simultaneous testing for the means of independent normal observations. In this paper, we study some asymptotic optimality properties of certain multiple testing rules induced by a general class of one-group shrinkage priors in a ...

Inclusion of fiber in gestation diets is a method for enhancing satiety and reducing abnormal behaviors in restricted feeding sows without providing excess energy. The purpose of this study was to use an in vitro-in vivo method to appraise the effects of

On the formation of structure in growing networks [PDF]
Based on the formation of triad junctions, the proposed mechanism generates networks that exhibit extended rather than single power law behavior. Triad formation guarantees strong neighborhood clustering and community-level characteristics as the network

Asymptotic properties of the quantum representations of the modular group [PDF]
We study the asymptotic behaviour of the quantum representations of the modular group in the large level limit. We prove that each element of the modular group acts as a Fourier integral operator. This provides a link between the classical and quantum Chern-Simons theories for the torus.

Measuring Distribution Similarities Between Samples: A Distribution-Free Overlapping Index
Every day cognitive and experimental researchers attempt to find evidence in support of their hypotheses in terms of statistical differences or similarities among groups.

Groups acting on trees with almost prescribed local action
We investigate a family of groups acting on a regular tree, defined by prescribing the local action almost everywhere. We study lattices in these groups and give examples of compactly generated simple groups of finite asymptotic dimension (actually one ...

Dimension and rank for mapping class groups [PDF]
We study the large scale geometry of the mapping class group, MCG. Our main result is that for any asymptotic cone of MCG, the maximal dimension of locally compact subsets coincides with the maximal rank of free abelian subgroups of MCG.

Algorithmic and asymptotic properties of groups [PDF]
This is a survey of the recent work in algorithmic and asymptotic properties of groups. I discuss Dehn functions of groups, complexity of the word problem, Higman embeddings, and constructions of finitely presented groups with extreme properties (monsters).
