Ageing and atherosclerosis: vascular intrinsic and extrinsic factors and potential role of IL-6
The number of old people is rising worldwide, and advancing age is a major risk factor for atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease. However, the mechanisms underlying this phenomenon remain unclear.

George Payling Wright was Professor of Pathology at Guy's Hospital when I went there as a student in 1941 and I came to know him in 1943. He was a great man, a great scholar and an inspired teacher. Of unimpressive appearance, it was only when he began to lecture or to explain or to demonstrate that his great abilities became apparent.

Identification of apoB‐100 Peptide‐Specific CD8+ T Cells in Atherosclerosis
BackgroundT cells are found in atherosclerotic plaques, with evidence supporting a potential role for CD8+ T cells in atherogenesis. Prior studies provide evidence of low‐density lipoprotein and apoB‐100 reactive T cells, yet specific epitopes relevant ...

Probucol treatment results in an increase in plasma concentrations of cholesteryl ester transfer protein (CETP) which may account, in part, for the effects of this agent on plasma concentrations of HDL cholesterol. We have examined the mechanism by which

A prospective natural-history study of coronary atherosclerosis.
BACKGROUND Atherosclerotic plaques that lead to acute coronary syndromes often occur at sites of angiographically mild coronary-artery stenosis. Lesion-related risk factors for such events are poorly understood.
