Bulletin of the European Association of Fish Pathologists, 2006Microsporidia are obligate intracellular parasites with particular mechanism to invade and reproduce in the infected cell. Most species are able to induce the formation of visible xenomas virtually in all organs. The composition and location of xenomas is species-specific.
