Manufacturing of high performance solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs) with atmospheric plasma spraying (APS) and plasma spray-physical vapor deposition (PS-PVD)

open access: yesSurface and Coatings Technology, 2017
Abstract In the present work, a metal supported SOFC half-cell was fabricated by means of plasma spray. As support, a Fe-Cr alloy with a porous structure was used. The anode and electrolyte were applied using atmospheric plasma spray (APS) and plasma spray-physical vapor deposition (PS-PVD), respectively.

Analysis of the influence of atmospheric plasma spray (APS) parameters on adhesion properties of alumina-titania coatings

Journal of Adhesion Science and Technology, 2004
Alumina-13 wt% titania wear resistant coatings were deposited using the Atmospheric Plasma Spray (APS) process under several processing conditions. Coating adhesion was then measured locally on cross sections by the indentation test and results were correlated with process variables.

Optimizing the structure and properties of Y2O3 stabilized zirconia: An atmospheric plasma spray (APS) and solution precursor plasma spray (SPPS) based comparative study

Ceramics International, 2018
Abstract The yttria stabilized zirconia (8%YSZ) is widely used to insulate the metallic components of the engine from high temperature and improve the operating temperature of gas turbine engines. With different processing parameters, 8YSZ coatings are prepared by atmospheric plasma spray (APS) and solution precursor plasma spray (SPPS) techniques ...

Tribological behaviour of TiO2 Atmospheric Plasma Spray (APS) coating under mixed and boundary lubrication conditions in presence of oil containing MoDTC

Tribology International, 2018
Abstract Tribological behaviour of steel APS coating and TiO 2 APS coating was investigated and compared with reference steel material under boundary lubrication in presence of MoDTC. Significant friction and wear reduction was observed in case of TiO 2 APS coating compared to conventional steel and steel APS coating.

As-Sprayed Highly Crystalline Yb2Si2O7 Environmental Barrier Coatings (EBCs) by Atmospheric Plasma Spray (APS)

International Thermal Spray Conference, 2022
Abstract High amorphous phase formation tendency, a desirable microstructure and phase composition and silicon evaporation are the challenges of spraying Yb2Si2O7 environmental barrier coatings (EBCs). This research addresses these issues by depositing as-sprayed high crystalline Yb2Si2O7 using atmospheric plasma spray (APS) without any ...
